This is PANAMA! I travelled out of Costa Rica overland by car and into Panama down the Caribbean coast. A very easy journey, usually would take only 2 hours, but took me a little while longer due to local protests. I enjoyed the slightly longer journey, learning lots from my various drivers about their lives and what life is like living in Panama.

I took a boat from Almirante Port passing by the huge Chiquita banana plantation (those bananas heading over to UK) and whizzed across the flat calm ocean to my next hotel inspection. Bocas Nayara glistening under blue skies and flat calm sea. First impressions - I was in heaven!

Nayara Bocas (previously known as Bocas Bali), is an adult-only hotel with 16 luxurious over-water bungalows, all beautifully decorated with huge bedrooms and stunning bathrooms, private wooden decked terraces with infinity plunge pools and steps down into the sea for guests wanting to swim-out and snorkel right from their room.

On the island, there are also 4 fab treehouses (a more novel and unique type of lodging) which are stunning and offer a little more privacy than the over-water bungalows.

During my stay here, I made the most of relaxing by the gorgeous pool area by the Coral Cafe restaurant after a delicious plate of fish tacos for lunch, a few cocktails by the floating beach & bar, and soaking in my infinity plunge pool on my private deck. Morning yoga was also a lovely way to start the day and ending with a relaxing massage at dusk.

If I had time, I would have headed out on a boat to explore more islands, snorkelling and swimming off the white sandy beaches. This was just a quick visit to inspect the hotel and I give it a big thumbs up!

Caribbean Vibes in Costa Rica 🇨🇷 I’m now staying at the beautiful Aguas Claras surrounded by jungle and beautiful beaches. I’ve seen so much wildlife including Monkeys, iguanas, coatis, green macaws 🦜 just around the hotel and relaxing by the pool. Leaving today over the border into Panama, heading to the islands of Bocas Del Toro

The most magical places are rarely the easiest to get to, and
Pacuare Lodge, is one of those places – the journey
here is a key part of the adventure. We whitewater raft down
the mighty Pacuare River, past jagged cliffs and tumbling
waterfalls, deep into the folds of the Talamanca Mountains and
pristine virgin rainforest arriving at a lodge of such beauty it’s
astonishing to think it’s also a serious eco hotel. The lodge is set in 840 acres of primary forests
which protects the wild habitats of
thousands of plant and animal species. It was built in totally
harmony with nature, without cutting down a single tree and
using sustainable materials. Amazing! My highlights… spotting one of the worlds most deadliest snakes, the Fer de Lance 🐍, canyoning through waterfalls and ziplining through the canopy

Flying from the Central Valley into the north-east of Costa Rica… Tortuguero National Park. My last visit here was with my children when they were only 3 & 5 and husband too and the experience is still as wonderful. Tortuga Lodge is the place to stay, beautifully run and managed with a Caribbean colourful flare in keeping with the destination. Actively supporting the local community and a huge commitment to sustainability and engaging in research of local projects. Set on a private 26 hectare reserve, guests can walk along the jungle trails, spotting monkeys and a plethora of birds, when they’re not out and about exploring the canals by boat or kayak. On the afternoon, I suggest resting by the pool riverside or having a massage. Heaven in nature. I Love it

Visiting a family run coffee plantation in Costa Rica’s cloud forest. Near Naranjo. Arbar Coffee exports to the UK and Asia. Excellent tour of the plantations with our friendly and knowledgeable guide Jose taking us through the stages from seed to bean and bean to coffee cup. Tasted a whole variety of plants, flowers and herbs as we walked through the plantation and also got stuck in picking the most expensive coffee beans in the world. The Geisha coffee bean costs between $100-$600 per pound 🫣 it was D-licious!. For non-coffee aficionados, they make tea from the coffee bean pulp, tastes very fruity, also delicious.

Deep in the Ecuadorian Andes, this 17th C manor house and working farm has been in the Plaza Lasso family – descendants of the former president – for over 100 years. The 2000 acres are home to beautiful, peaceful gardens, green pasturelands of cattle and sheep,  mountain lakes with panoramic views, a Condor rehabilitation project, more than 140 Caranqui burial mounds dating back to between the 8th and 15th Centuries, as well as vast swathes of protected primary forest where endangered spectacled bears roam wild. Explore mountain lakes and panoramic Andean views of snow capped volcanoes on foot, by mountain bike or on horseback. Learn how to cook delicious local dishes or the famous Zuleteño embroidery. There’s also uniquely, a ‘Cheese House’, which showcases their on-site cheese factory, offering a hands-on tour and tastings of Zuleta’s award-winning cheeses. Guests get to experience authentic hacienda life and interact with the local community, whom the family work closely with.
