This is PANAMA! I travelled out of Costa Rica overland by car and into Panama down the Caribbean coast. A very easy journey, usually would take only 2 hours, but took me a little while longer due to local protests. I enjoyed the slightly longer journey, learning lots from my various drivers about their lives and what life is like living in Panama.
I took a boat from Almirante Port passing by the huge Chiquita banana plantation (those bananas heading over to UK) and whizzed across the flat calm ocean to my next hotel inspection. Bocas Nayara glistening under blue skies and flat calm sea. First impressions - I was in heaven!
Nayara Bocas (previously known as Bocas Bali), is an adult-only hotel with 16 luxurious over-water bungalows, all beautifully decorated with huge bedrooms and stunning bathrooms, private wooden decked terraces with infinity plunge pools and steps down into the sea for guests wanting to swim-out and snorkel right from their room.
On the island, there are also 4 fab treehouses (a more novel and unique type of lodging) which are stunning and offer a little more privacy than the over-water bungalows.
During my stay here, I made the most of relaxing by the gorgeous pool area by the Coral Cafe restaurant after a delicious plate of fish tacos for lunch, a few cocktails by the floating beach & bar, and soaking in my infinity plunge pool on my private deck. Morning yoga was also a lovely way to start the day and ending with a relaxing massage at dusk.
If I had time, I would have headed out on a boat to explore more islands, snorkelling and swimming off the white sandy beaches. This was just a quick visit to inspect the hotel and I give it a big thumbs up!
