Fred. Olsen Travel Agents in Felixstowe are thrilled to have Sonia Reece join their team, bringing with her a wealth of experience, from her first step as a YTS apprentice at Pickford’s, through 38 years in the travel industry. Her passions are for the natural world, with trips to Costa Rica, New Zealand and Vancouver Island top of the bucket list, “I also really enjoy geocaching whilst away,” she explains, “It takes you to places you may not otherwise have visited, and the I love the hunt to find them - so far I’ve found over 16,000 world-wide!”

“I’m looking forward to multigenerational holidays in the future with my grown-up children and new grandson – Corsica will be my first choice, for its easy access and short travel times from East Anglia, yet it feels like another world away once you are there.”

Sonia’s top travel tip is to always make sure you have excellent travel insurance – a recent trip to Bali with her daughter involved a tumble down a storm drain, and medical cover was essential! Her real travel passion is for customer care and hearing all about the amazing times they have had once they get home, which means she’s a perfect addition to the team at Fred. Olsen Travel. Andrea Barr has joined the team of Travel Specialists at Fred. Olsen Travel Felixstowe – another step in her extraordinary travel career. From holiday rep roles in Greece and Ski resorts, through time on board cruise ships as a purser and in guest relations, before becoming a travel agent in 2023, Andrea has plenty of knowledge that she loves to share with her customers.

“My love of travel was sparked by a primary school project I did on Hawaii – when I finally got to visit, it did not disappoint! explains Andrea, “For me, it’s the variety of travel that makes it so rewarding. My favourites have been an Alaska cruise, where you see glaciers calving on one day and summer wildflowers at the very next port, and I really love Greece, where there’s still so much more to explore, even though I’ve been many times.”

We have also welcomed the lovely Sonia!
Last week was also Sonias first day with us here in Felixstowe and here she is :)

I am very delighted to be working at Fred Olsen in Felixstowe.

I started working in Travel in July 1988, when I joined Pickford's Travel as a YTS.

The rest as they say is history.

My favourite European destination is Corsica - it has amazing beaches, beautiful old buildings and a huge variety of different coastal and inland towns.

My favourite long haul destination is Western Australia - it has a great atmosphere, again huge choice of different towns, villages, and fantastic wildlife.

At the top of my bucket list is currently Costa Rica and Lake Garda.

In my spare time I love to spend time with my adult children, my parents, and my new grandson. I like to walk to explore new places and you may have heard of geocaching which I am a big fan of and currently have found over 16K !!

Travel is in my blood, as you probably tell, I look forward to helping you make new memories.
