It's not very often we get to stay on a Sunday and listen to the Brass Band. There is a different band on each Sunday 2pm to 4pm. If you're staying over a weekend we can highly recommend 👌

Summer 2025 is well underway, and we’ve already helped create some happy memories for many of our lovely guests — long may it continue!

We're already receiving enquiries for 2026, so we’ve now updated our prices for next year.

When you stay at Ridgeway Cottage, you're booking a true home away from home. Our cottage is much loved by both its owners and guests, which allows us to maintain a high standard year after year.

As hands-on owners, we visit every month to ensure everything is just as our guests expect. Photos are taken everytime we leave so the images of the cottage in each post are the most up to date we have.

The cottage sleeps 4 people in 2 bedrooms, good for families, two couples or a girls wekend away. We do not allow pets to stay in the cottage.

Ever stayed on The Bay in Filey? Our lovely home away from home holiday cottage is in a quiet corner and gets the sun all afternoon 😎 perfect for relaxing with a book.

Summer holidays are now fully booked but we do have some weekend and mid week availability. October half term is free at the moment too!

Our cottage sleeps.up to 4 people and is loved by its owners and guests, most return year after year!

We don't take pets so if you are safe if you have allergies.

The cottage is compliant with the new fire safety regulations, we even invited the fire service in to inspect it.

We're absolutely thrilled to hear how much they enjoyed their stay. It’s always a pleasure to welcome such wonderful people—and even better when they leave with smiles (and glowing words)!

Our cleaners do a fabulous job of keeping the cottage clean between guests, we stay every few weeks to complete the required Fire regustions checks and make sure everything is as we think it should be. As we leave we take new photos so when guests arrive the cottage is as it looks on the photos!

Any plans for the next bank holiday? In Filey, they are hosting the Folk Festival with over 100 artists in various pubs in town https://www.fileyfolkfestival.com/.

Our lovely cottage is just a 40 minute walk at low tide.

A Busy Week at the Cottage, But We're Ready for Your Stay!

It’s been a productive week for us here at the cottage! We’ve been busy with general maintenance to ensure everything is in top condition. Plus, we were lucky enough to have NYFS inspect the property for compliance with the new fire regulations – all to make sure our guests are safe and sound during their stay.

With the sun finally making an appearance, bookings are starting to come in.Our cottage, which comfortably sleeps 4 people in 2 bedrooms, has that real home-from-home feel.

As owners, we stay each month to ensure the cottage continues to meet the high standard our guests expect, and we’re proud to say that many of our guests return year after year.

Idea number 4.

Why not spend a day on the beach?

In our cottage we have a fully stocked picnic bag and a large range of outdoor games including buckets and spades. Just remember your picnic blanket :)

The beach is a 10 minute walk down a steep slope but has miles of golden sand.

If you prefer to relax at the cottage we have a set of boules for use on the courts around the site and the open grassed area at the back of the cottage is perfect for little ones to play.

If it's not beach weather don't forget the onsite pool and gym, free to use with our leisure pass and we have a wide range of board games and DVD's.

Idea number 3 of free/ cheap days out near Filey. The seabirds at North Landing and Seals at Flamborough. Obviously, there is no guarantee of seeing any, but from May to July, the Puffins are nesting between these months. If you park on the car park at the top (around £1.20 an hour), you can walk down the steep hill to the beach. When the tide goes out, you get closer to the cliffs, and the Puffins swoop across the bay. There is a cafe and toilets but plenty of places to take a picnic.

Flamborough head (pay to park) also has many sea birds but also the seals. We stood and watched them bathe in the sun then all of a sudden they started heading to the sea! There is also a cafe and toilets to use.

Both places are between Filey and Bridlington, around a 10 minute drive away from the site.

Following on from yesterdays free/ cheap days out, if you like bird watching, have you ever been to Filey Dams Nature reserve? https://www.ywt.org.uk/nature-reserves/filey-dams-nature-reserveIt's located on the edge of an housing estate in Filey (5 minute drive). There are a couple of look out areas over the marsh land.

On site there is also The Meadow (2 minute walk), we've been lucky enough to see the Owl that lives close by when walking as the sun is setting. There is a free app you can dowload called 'Merlin Bird ID' which picks up all the bird sounds in the vacinity. Early morning we have had up to 12 birds listed from the sounds it picked up.

We do have some binoculars at the cottage incase you forget yours :)
