Look, I know what you’re thinking…. "I’m exhausted. The modern world is a relentless conveyor belt of emails, traffic, bad news and beige sandwiches. Help me."
Well, calm down. Pack your comfortable deck shoes and your elasticated-waist trousers, because Crosskeys Travel has sorted it. We are going on a Classical Rhine Cruise, and we’re doing it properly. 5-star AMADEUS Elegant.
Departing Monday, 10th August 2026. (Yes, 2026. Give yourself something to live for).
Here is the lowdown on why you need to be on this ship:
🛳️ THE SETUP
This isn't one of those floating blocks of flats where you fight a man from Düsseldorf for a sun lounger. This is luxury. We’re talking 7 nights of Full Board. We’re talking free-flowing, hand-selected wines and draft beers with lunch and dinner. (Read that sentence again. Free-flowing). Dining so good on board that you won’t be tempted to dine on land when you get the opportunity. And, there's tea and cake every afternoon, a Captain’s Gala Dinner, and 24-hour caffeine access in the Amadeus Club for when the excitement keeps you awake.
🗺️ THE ITINERARY
We roll through Belgium on a plush, luxury Mercedes Crosskeys coach (coaches have come a long way since the 1970s and include their own loo & have decent leg room) and hop on the boat in Amsterdam. Day two gives you those glorious, narrow UNESCO houses and a canal cruise before we glide down the river.
From there, it’s a masterclass in European geography:
Cologne: Massive cathedral, medieval vibes, and a walking tour that includes Kölsch tasting. (Local beer. Essential research).
Cochem: A detour down the Moselle River to a town so romantic it feels borderline aggressive. Fairytale castles, half-timbered houses, and proper local wine tasting (optional excursion).
The Middle Rhine Valley: This is the big one. Grab a glass, sit on the sun deck, and look at the castles. It’s like Lord of the Rings but with better plumbing.
Rüdesheim & Speyer: Cobbled 15th-century streets, mechanical music museums, and history so old it makes Great Britain look like a new-build housing estate.
Strasbourg: The grand finale. Half German, half French, entirely beautiful. The cathedral was the tallest building in the world for over 200 years. It’s magnificent.
THE DAMAGE
Starting at £1,799 per person. For a 5-star floating hotel, all that food, and enough wine to float a battleship? It’s a steal.
⚠️CRITICAL WARNING: Seats are selling fast. If you hesitate, some lovely retired couple from Surrey is going to take your cabin, drink your wine, eat their way through the Michelin level menu and look at your castles. Don't let them win.
