Perched high above the cliffs of Robin Hoodโ€™s Bay, Hotel Victoria is all about the view. ๐ŸŒŠ

A former 19th-century hotel for officer-rank sailors, this characterful coastal stay blends Victorian and maritime details with a lighter, contemporary feel. Think grand oak staircases, ship-inspired panelling, cosy rooms and a sea-facing terrace thatโ€™s rather hard to leave.

Thereโ€™s excellent Yorkshire produce on the menu at Osborneโ€™s, classic pub fare at The Loxley, and plenty of reasons to linger over a cocktail as the sun dips over the bay. ๐Ÿธ

And when youโ€™re ready to venture out, the beach, Cleveland Way and North York Moors are all waiting beyond the door.

Our latest review of Hotel Victoria, Robin Hoodโ€™s Bay, comes from Helen Pickles, who knows a good Yorkshire escape when she sees one. And her hot tip? "Take a walk along the beach to the delightfully named Boggle Hole โ€“ a narrow ravine with a cafรฉ as well as a renowned youth hostel โ€“ and return along the clifftop path. Make sure you leave enough time before dinner for a cocktail on the sea-facing terrace; sometimes with live music."

Right now, we're thinking about the upcoming autumn. There's something about the beauty of fallen leaves and cooler days that makes a change of scenery particularly tempting. ๐Ÿ‚

A crackling fire, a long lunch that turns into an afternoon, a walk through the countryside before retreating somewhere rather lovelyโ€ฆ Autumn (or Fall) is the season for checking into a hotel with nowhere else you need to be.

From a Cotswold classic in Broadway to a countryside retreat in New York State, a seaside stay in Whitby and a stylish base in Prague, here are some of our favourite places for an autumn escape.

๐Ÿ‚ Lygon Arms, Broadway
๐Ÿ‚ Wildflower Farms Resort, New York State
๐Ÿ‚ Hotel V Frederiksplein, Amsterdam
๐Ÿ‚ Twin Farms, Vermont
๐Ÿ‚ Saltmoore, Whitby
๐Ÿ‚ Mama Shelter, Prague

Our latest review comes from Hugh Graham-Watson, who recently enjoyed a stay at the beautiful Kimpton Aysla.

Hugh says, "A sleek resort offering a luxurious escape on the coast of Mallorca. Think warm Mediterranean hues, modern elegance, and rustic-chic rooms with stunning terraces. There's a top-tier spa, two pools, and a restaurant blending local and global flavours. The ideal spot for the ultimate in relaxation. โ€

Come with us to Woolley Grange โœจ

Our Guru, recently enjoyed a stay at this beautiful retreat in Wiltshire, she says: "Woolley Grange manages to feel both gloriously grown-up and wonderfully child-friendly. Set amid the rolling Wiltshire countryside, this handsome Jacobean house has 350 years of history behind it and has recently undergone an extensive renovation including stylish, contemporary decor. Come on a sunny day and it feels like you've been transported to the South of France!"

A Yorkshire inn with a little more to it than meets the eye. ๐Ÿ‘€

Helen Pickles checks in at the award-winning General Tarleton, where traditional character, thoughtful details and a warm welcome make this a particularly appealing country escape.

"This food-driven pub is an unexpected find in an unremarkable North Yorkshire village, close to Harrogate. Part of Michelin-starred chef Tommy Banksโ€™s enterprise to revitalise traditional country inns, it offers pub classics cooked with flair, comfortable inn surrounds, plus a surprisingly large, prettily laid out terrace."

Fancy a quieter break this September? ๐Ÿคซ

September is the perfect time to discover the UK's coast and countryside. With summer crowds gone, peaceful beaches, scenic walking trails and rolling landscapes are at their best, making it an ideal month for a refreshing escape.

Here are our Top UK spots for a September escape this year:

๐Ÿ“ The Gallivant, East Sussex โ€“ 1960s motel reborn as a stylish New England beach hotel with a good cafe and bistro dining, on Camber's magnificent sandy beach.

๐Ÿ“ Bike & Boot, Scarborough โ€“ A fun hotel with an outdoorsy ethos set overlooking South Bay. The rooms keep the building's original features but feel fresh and funky with pops of colour and contemporary artwork.

๐Ÿ“ Storm in a Teacup, St Ives โ€“ Just a short walk from the beach, Storm in a Teacup is a charming boutique B&B with stylishly decorated rooms, modern furniture and pop-art that gives the place a chic feel.

๐Ÿ“ ABode Canterbury, Kent โ€“ Stylish conversion of historic buildings in the heart of Canterbury, very close to the Cathedral. The property showcases a good mix of ancient wooden beams and sleek contemporary designs.

๐Ÿ“ The Rosevine, Cornwall โ€“ A charming family-run hotel overlooking the south Cornwall coast. We love their spacious and comfortable rooms with tasteful furnishings and warm colour schemes.

Are you planning an Italian escape this year? We think Umbria is worth moving up higher on your list, and we've got the perfect place to stay. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

The Monteleone is a new boutique countryside retreat set between Orvieto and Perugia, making it a great base for exploring Umbria and Tuscany. Plus, the charming hilltop village of Monteleone d'Orvieto is just a 7-minute walk away.

Hugh Graham-Watson recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful retreat in June and says, "A great hotel with well-curated rooms, ideal for families and friends. Staff are super friendly and knowledgeable โ€“ ready at any time to recommend an itinerary or book a local restaurant or experience." And Hugh's hot tip for us is: "Don't miss Cittร  della Pieve for an evening aperitivo or dinner al fresco!

If you're choosing one month to travel, make it September. ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ

Think warm days on Turkey's Turquoise Coast, late-summer swims around the Greek islands, and Croatia's sun-soaked Adriatic towns without the peak-season bustle. Portugal is still bathed in sunshine, Morocco becomes more comfortable as temperatures begin to ease, and in Japan, the first hints of autumn start to appear in the north while much of the country remains warm and green.

If you've been waiting for the right time to book, this might just be it.

Which destination would be at the top of your September list? โœ”๏ธ

Wake up to calm lagoon views, spend the afternoon exploring the Red Sea, then settle in as the DJ soundtrack takes over by the pool. ๐ŸŒด ๐ŸŽถ

This adults-only hideaway in El Gouna strikes the perfect balance between laid-back beach days and sociable evenings. Minimalist interiors are softened with subtle Bedouin-inspired details, while a private lagoon beach, paddleboarding, snorkelling and desert adventures are all within easy reach. Back at the hotel, expect Mediterranean-inspired dining, cocktails by the water and a wellness space for when it's time to recharge.

If you're looking for a new stylish Red Sea escape that blends relaxation with a lively atmosphere, Cooks Club deserves a place on your list. โœ”๏ธ
