The former Victorian spa hotel has received a much-needed upgrade from the current owners, who have blended a boisterous and eclectic Victorian decor on the ground floor with simple, uncluttered rooms on the three upper floors."

A new Scottish hideaway to have on your radar: Thackray House in Callander pairs grand 17th-century charm with roaring fires, riverside gardens and quietly luxurious interiors in the heart of the Trossachs. ✨

"It's a gorgeous property set on the banks of the River Teith, painted in traditional Scottish pink, which dates back to 1625 and was once a hunting lodge of the Duke of Perth. You can see the history as soon as you reach the thick wooden front door, and you can feel it oozing from the pores of the building in the stunning drawing room and library. The rooms are rich with wood panelling, ornate carved ceilings, heavy drapes, roaring fires and plenty of sink-into sofas for either enjoying afternoon tea, a tipple before or after dinner, or simply whiling away a rainy day."
