Few things hit the spot on a warm day more than an ice cream cone from Auntie Jacquis . This one is Jaffa cake flavour. Is it a cake? Is it a biscuit? Who cares, as long as it's this tasty! Just a short walk from Glenisla House

So close to home. A wee run up the coast from us. We can all help our insects too wherever we are. And as usual a lovely poetic post from Therese discribing this beautiful place. :)

This is the type of scene that makes the downy hair on your face, your eyelashes, moustache or beard await expectant and poised to capture the tiny aerial droplets of moisture held within!

It makes me imagine the delight on the faces of those who use ‘fog catchers’ in arid regions to catch and condense the precious droplets, creating fresh drinking water. On a large scale 6000 litres of water can be ‘caught’ in these nets per day (5 litres per square meter)!

We set out to the reserve on a bright and warm evening, through shoulder high dry grass and as the heavy haar billowed in we returned soaking, trousers sticking to thighs! How interesting though to watch the busy insects enjoying the sun, feeding and busily collecting the pollen, then as the mist took hold taking shelter and becoming like little bejewelled creatures, some drinking the water droplets that had condensed on leaves in front of them! The whole reserve took on a different atmosphere, with colours slightly dulled and sounds muted, calmness after the sensory overload and excitement of busy bees buzzing, birds singing and ‘noisy’ vibrant colourful flowers!

As it’s National Insect week, why not add a little water bowl for them in your garden if you have not got one already? A saucer with plenty of stones is ideal, you must add stones so they don’t have to get too wet whilst drinking.

Our local area from the local Lochs, Rivers, the Angus Glens ,and the Stathmore Valley, the many Golf Courses, and dramatic coastline makes this a wonderful place to visit. As we gradually ease out of lockdown remember that all our bookings from this year have been refunded in full. Our prices for 2021 remain exactly the same as for this year. We look forward to those regular guests who have chosen to rebook already, and to welcome new visitors to this lovely part of the World.

Forfar Indoor Sports is a fantastic place to have so close to us. Especially if the weather isnt all that great. Fom skating to curling, from the Soft Play area to roller blade discos and childrens parties the centre is certainly worth the visit. https://www.facebook.com/170437779651555/posts/3514681208560512/?sfnsn=scwspmo&extid=UpIqcswCf2Dfw0Tl
