Rowan's Sustainable Learning Trip to Lanzarote🌱☀️
In August, Rowan travelled to Lanzarote for a 3 night educational trip focused on experiencing the destination and learning more about sustainable travel. Flying from Edinburgh with easyJet alongside fellow travel agents, it was an incredible opportunity to see firsthand how sustainability is becoming a key part of the travel industry.
The group stayed at the stunning Secrets Lanzarote Resort & Spa, an adults only luxury retreat in the beautiful and peaceful resort of Puerto Calero. From the moment she arrived, Rowan was wowed by the hotel's spacious, modern rooms and excellent facilities. With four outdoor pools, six restaurants, six bars and a fantastic spa, there was no shortage of places to relax and unwind.🧘♀️ Rowan was particularly impressed by the in room amenities, including the daily replenished mini bar & the bathroom and slippers.💆♀️
The dining experience was a real highlight, with the group enjoying everything from fresh seafood and authentic Italian cuisine to extensive buffet options. 🍴However, if you ask Rowan what her favourite part was, wait for it... the coffee shop! We suspect she may have spent as much time there as she did learning about sustainability.😂 A few more visits and they may have needed to name a latte after her! ☕
The trip also included a visit to Dreams Lanzarote Playa Dorada Resort & Spa, giving the team the chance to experience both its family friendly atmosphere and it's exclusive adults only Preferred Club areas. The hotel offers superb facilities for all types of travellers, with multiple pools, a fantastic beachfront location and plenty of dining options, making it a great choice for families, couples and groups alike.⛱️
As sustainability was the core focus of the trip, the itinerary was packed with engaging activities designed to inspire discussion and learning. These included sip-and-paint sessions, scavenger hunts, round-table discussions and informal conversations exploring how travel agents can play a greater role in promoting responsible tourism.🐢🌱
Rowan found the experience incredibly valuable and returned with a wealth of knowledge and ideas surrounding sustainable travel. The trip provided excellent insight into how destinations, hotels and travel professionals can work together to create more environmentally conscious travel experiences, knowledge she is excited to share with her customers.🥰
