We're nearly halfway through the Great Grantown Menu - Jon Wood took the helm for Valentine's Day, to rave reviews and now, fast on his heels is a chef from outwith Grantown 😜

Andersons Restaurant has been a stalwart of Strathspey's dining scene for many years - renowned for their consistently brilliant quality so it's wonderful to welcome Steve Anderson to Grantown for one night only!

His Great Grantown Menu includes venison, salmon and his acclaimed tartiflette!

We love this shot of the snowy landscape, taken from outside Grantown by Ben Cookman last month. The mountains look amazing in winter. While we all complain a wee bit about the white stuff when it arrives, we're also keeping our fingers crossed that winter isn't over just yet!

❤️❤️ If a trip to the pictures is your idea of romance, Grantown Community Cinema’s February screenings could be for you. Our wee cinema will be showing the 2024 British comedy Seize Them! on Sunday February 15.

You will recognise so many faces in this one – Aimee Lou Wood, Nicola Coughlan, Lolly Adefope, Nick Frost and Jessice Hynes… It’s set in medieval Britain, when an unpopular queen is overthrown by the people. Forced to flee, the film follows her attempts to win back her throne.

Book your ticket in advance via the cinema website now!

Valentines Day is approaching and members of Grantown Business Association have a fantastic range of activities and offers to tempt you this year.

The Great Grantown Menu continues this month, with a fantastic menu from a well-kent face from the High Street.

Jon Wood will be cooking at the Speyside Hotel on Friday February 14 and his dinner sounds delicious. From a starter of roast quail, to a main of 72hr pork belly, finished with a buttermilk panna cotta, this will be an amazing treat for diners.

The Great Grantown Menu starts this week at the Speyside Hotel, with that establishment's own chef kicking off the series.

Lucy Huntley took over cooking at the hotel in 2021 and has spent the last few years, honing her skills and her menus. She sources local ingredients as far as possible - the Speyside Hotel is the only restaurant to be supplied by Balliefurth Farm - and her lemon posset is firm favourite of guests.

In her Great Grantown Menu, Lucy is showing what you get when you eat at the Speyside Hotel. You'll find scallops and venison pie on the menu, plus a dessert inspired by the couple's recent trip to Sri Lanka.

Book for Lucy's event - or the other Great Grantown Menu dinners - by contacting the hotel on 01479 873909.

Our third foodie post in a week! This time, it's from one of Grantown Business Association's newer members - Luna Verde.

This Italian has caused a stir since opening in the last quarter of last year and now they're in full flow with their offers. On Thursday night, the team has a special vegan and gluten-free menu, featuring such treats as lemon-poached leek, herb-roast aubergine and caramelised pineapple.

Or perhaps you fancy starting off your weekend in style with "Spritz & Bruschetta"? Available at Luna Verde on Friday and Saturday, 5pm-7pm. Only £12 per person!

You can book your spot at either (or both!) by contacting the restaurant on 07484 280745. 💚

Our town's hotels and restaurants are determined to keep us well fed through the winter this year with a host of fantastic opportunities to sample brilliant food and drink.

One of those events is The Great Grantown Menu, featuring the culinary talents of five of Strathspey's best known names. Over five different nights, each chef will cook a four-course banquet for diners at the The Speyside Hotel in Grantown.

We've seen the menus and it all sounds tantalising - venison, sweetcorn fritter, pork belly! And who would have known that Grantown has a sushi chef in its midst (we're looking at you, Po Pia 😉)

The timetable is:
- Friday January 24 – Lucy Huntley
- Friday February 14 – Jon Wood
- Friday February 21 – Steve Anderson
- Sunday March 9 – Bot Laochampa
- Friday March 28 – Kirsten Gilmour

Spaces are filling up fast so book your spot by contacting The Speyside Hotel directly on 01479 873909!

What a difference a day makes.... 24 little hours... (sing it with us!)

After a freezing weekend in Grantown, all the snow has gone! These photos were taken just a week apart at the top of the main path through Anagach Woods. As you can see, the temperature increase has had a dramatic effect, though we're not quite abandoning our jackets just yet.

There's lots of events coming up in the town over the next few weeks - stay tuned for more information.

You all enjoyed the picture of Grantown's Christmas lights last week so we thought we'd bring you the view from the other end of the street. We love the reflections in the puddles!

A big thank must go to the lights committee, who have done excellent work in making the town sparkle this year.

Just a week to go and we've got news of more Christmas events coming up in the town over the festive period.

Local farmers are holding a tractor run around villages in Strathspey on Sunday December 22, setting off from Grantown Showfield at 5.15pm and returning to drive up the High Street at 7pm.

There's more spectacle the next evening, when the traditional torchlight procession takes place. You know the drill for this one - meet at the Craiglynne Hotel to get your torch and then Santa will lead the way up the High Street to the Square.

For those looking for something cosy, the Grant Arms Hotel will host a series of evening talks from Christmas Eve. Covering the history of Grantown and visits to Antarctica, the Himalayas and Romania, these are sure to keep your brain ticking.

And of course, there's the Hogmanay build-up... the Royal British Legion has a string of parties organised, starting with a family friendly Christmas ceilidh, courtesy of Feis Spè. The music kicks off at 3pm!

The following night, it's the return of Maggie Adamson and Friends, performing a fundraising concert for the town's Hogmanay street party. And finally, the RBL will be hosting it's own New Year's Eve party on December 31, with music by Jason Gordon. Remember it's tickets only!

You won't want to miss the fireworks in the Square - see you there just before midnight! 🥳🍾🥂

Believe it or not, Grantown-on-Spey might be the best place to be if you're looking for a white Christmas. There have been reports that our town is forecast to get some snowy showers next week! Better pack your thermals and snow boots along with the presents if you're heading north for the holidays.

We're keeping our fingers crossed for scenes like this - who's for snowballs before turkey dinner? ☃️
