🍂 A little autumn inspiration

There is something special about an autumn walk through Harlow Carr.

The crunch of leaves underfoot, the changing colours overhead and the contrast between evergreen planting and autumn foliage make this a season worth savouring.

Whether you’re a keen gardener, a photographer or simply someone who enjoys a peaceful stroll, the garden has plenty to offer.

🌿 Get closer to the garden you love

Being a Friend of Harlow Carr offers opportunities to discover more about the garden than you might during an ordinary visit.

Our programme includes special-interest tours accompanied by Harlow Carr staff, talks, visits to other gardens and opportunities to hear about developments from the people who know the garden best.

Members also receive Streamside, our quarterly newsletter by email, keeping them informed about news and forthcoming Friends activities.

Membership costs just £10 per household per year.

🍁 The beauty is in the detail

Autumn is a wonderful time to look at gardens a little differently.

Seed heads, ornamental grasses, changing leaves and the textures of fading flowers all have a beauty of their own.

At Harlow Carr, there’s always something to catch your eye if you take the time to look closely.

Next time you visit, pause for a moment and see what you discover.

Did you know that the Friends have helped fund a variety of projects at Harlow Carr over the years?

Our contributions have included the Friendship Bridge, mobility scooters, wildlife cameras, the bird hide, a lockable cold frame for the Alpine section (pictured) and the purchase of William Salmon’s historic book *Botanologia*.

Each project tells a different story about how the Friends help support the garden and the people who enjoy it.

Membership is just **£10 per household per year**. By joining us, you help the Friends continue supporting projects at Harlow Carr.

🌿 Celebrating our Learner of the Year! 🌿

Congratulations to Conor Donaldson, this year’s Learner of the Year at RHS Garden Harlow Carr! 🎉

The Friends of Harlow Carr were delighted to award Conor our £300 Learner of the Year prize, presented by Cath and Chris, our joint chairmen.

There’s even more reason to celebrate, as Conor has just discovered that he has passed his apprenticeship exams with Distinction! 👏

Conor is now looking forward to the next stage of his horticultural journey, taking up a studentship with the Professional Gardeners’ Guild at The Garden House in Devon.

We’re incredibly pleased to support the next generation of horticultural talent and wish Conor every success in this exciting new chapter. 🌱

The RHS Garden Harlow Carr team is running a History of Garden Design workshop on Saturday 24 October, exploring the styles, influences and key movements that have shaped garden design through the ages.
