With bookings coming in for 2027, just an observation. We engage cottages.com to act as our Agent. From time to time they issue dates to both booking.com and AirBnB to maximise our bookings - however I am not convinced that all charge the same price, so it might be worth checking and if they are the same I would encourage customers to use cottages.com. (Or even contact me direct.)

Picture just to draw your attention. Houses on Pindale Road to the left (you can't quite see Michill Cottage); the wooded area is Cave Dale with Peveril Castle on the skyline. Winnats Pass is just left of centre, and the high point is Mam Tor, all a short walk from the cottage.

UPDATE (7 September 2026) Our Agent has decided it is up to the owner whether or not there is a charge for pets. And at Michill Cottage I can confirm PETS GO FREE!

I have just been informed that our Agents (cottages.com) have decided to introduce a charge for pets. They are saying £30 per pet, which, since we will accept three, means £90 extra. I can accept £30 per pet *per week* but *not* £30 per pet for a 2-night stay.

If this charge is going to put you off coming, please let me know.

As I understand it, this new charge will only apply to bookings made from today. If you've already booked then your pet still goes free.

We do find July and August tends to have vacant dates: is it because we're not by the sea? Is it because our Agent charges the highest prices at this time?
We are free from Sunday 12 - Friday 17 July; also Monday 20 - Thursday 23 July.

Want to get away from it all but unsure? Michill Cottage is in a small village blessed with 6 pubs in close walking distance, plus cafes and restaurants. There is a general store, as well as the wonderful Peveril Stores and of course supermarkets will deliver.

Hope rail station is only 2.5 miles away and trains from Manchester and Sheffield are frequent, and there are also buses to and from from Sheffield and Bakewell.

What I am getting at is, don't sit at home thinking you'd like to go but are worried about fuel availability. Once you get to our lovely cottage, you won't need to use the car, so you can even come by train.

There is glorious walking country right on the doorstep, as well as the famous caves and caverns in and around the village. Come and see for yourself.
