Another great day out for our visitors is the local Thurloxton farm, pick as many strawberries as your heart desires then kick back in your log fired tub and enjoy them with a glass of fizz in the evening!

Fruit Update 25th June:
We have an excellent crop of ripe, juicy Gooseberries and Blackcurrants at the moment, as well as some delicious Strawberries, and a small picking of Raspberries as they ripen every day.

Monday morning and that means its changeover day here . All of our linen is professionally cleaned and ironed and along with a deep clean of each lodge this morning we have invested in brand new luxury cotton anti allergy duvets for our king size beds!

Were also making the most of a free night before guests arrive again tomorrow to de-ice both of our fridge freezers

I've even roped in my local free labourer (otherwise known as dad) to mow the considerably large lawns we have here.

2 years ago we launched OakwaterEscapes and what a journey it has been in a relatively short period of time.

Over 300 holidays hosted, 5* satisfaction rating, superhost status on air bnb and being shortlisted as a finalist in the Somerset Business of the year awards. I am now also beginning a new journey by co-hosting other properties in my area and helping other accommodation owners to maximise their income and even setup their own holiday homes and businesses from scratch.

Thanks to all our friends and followers for helping to promote, engage and spread the word.

You may have noticed in the news that as of today 1st May, the seasonal restrictions have now come in place on which beaches you can take your dog too if you are visiting the beaches of Somerset, Devon and Dorset this summer.

It's full swing here but it's also the easter holidays and that means the joys of juggling running a busy business and looking after my little ones.

Sometimes its easy to get consumed by the pressures of life and I can be guilty of forgetting how lucky i am to have the opportunity to make these memories with my children. One of the reasons I made the decision to create a lifestyle business at my home was because I didn't want to miss my kids growing up and as stressful it can be at times I am grateful to share these memories... even though my eldest now thinks we should start a construction company together after a 60 minute crash course in cement mixing ;)

The sun is shining, I have a new set of guests arriving shortly and the bank holiday weekend is upon us... enjoy and make memories!

Okay before you say it, yes I have seen the forecast for the weekend but for now I'm just loving seeing the trees and plants starting to bud and the smell of fresh grass... sometimes it's the simple things nature offers that makes you smile after a long winter!

It must be time to book a holiday dont you think...?

So over the last couple of weeks I have received several new holiday bookings for this coming year all from guests who have visited me previously over the last 18 months. For me this is the biggest compliment I can receive as holidaymakers are spoilt for choice of wonderful locations nowadays so to want to plan return visits to us here at OakwaterEscapes is a real honour.

As a result I would like to extend my gratitude by offering any guests who have already stayed with me in the past and are happy to book with me again directly a 10% discount on any advertised nightly prices found on Air bnb or my other booking partners.

So there's no denying yesterday was a rough day! The flash flooding that hit Ilminster and Chard yesterday afternoon left many of my neighbours flooded with numerous cars stuck in floodwater. Fortunately our house and lodges stayed dry while the ground around was submerged. We have a big clear up operation to do this week but many of our neighbours and fellow businesses were not so lucky so our hearts go out to all those affected.

Fortunately the water levels around us dropped within a few hours yesterday but the mess it leaves behind will take a while to sort. If any of those affected locally need an extra hand this week please let me know.
