West Highland Wildlife Tours

West Highland Wildlife Tours Let West Highland Wildlife tours take you on an adventure to the breathtaking remotes of Argyll wher We’ll head further up the Glen to Lochan Shira Resevoir.

Ever fancied deer stalking but really don’t like the idea of shooting an animal? What about joining a real Highland deer stalker on an adventure to some of Argyll’s most picturesque locations and hidden secrets way off the beaten track to discover Scotland’s native wildlife. The best way to experience this journey is by Argo, an 8 wheel all terrain vehicle capable of conquering virtually anything

in its path, including water, ice, mud and even steep mountain terrain in the toughest of conditions making them ideal for your exploration of the rugged and beautiful Glen Shira. Aboard this magnificent mobile you will be taken the ruined dwelling of Rob Roy MacGregor dating back to 1716 when the Duke of Agyll negotiated an amnesty and protection and granted him permission to build a house up the glen for the surrendering up of weapons. This can be a common hangout for Pine martins and its from here on in we keep a lookout for the rare Golden Eagle. The ride may get a little bumpy from here as we take the Argo up towards Ben Bhuidhe on the trail for Red Deer. The behaviour of Scottish Highland Red Deer is unlike any other area of the UK and you will learn why red deer populations require careful management to maintain health and quality and ensure their sustainable balance with the environment. At a certain time of year you may be lucky enough to see or hear the stags rut! The extremely unpredictable Scottish weather will have a part to play in wither you enjoy a picnic whilst taking in the breathtaking sites of the Paps of Jura or if you’ll be thankful of a wee dram as you orienteer your way off the densely cloudy mountainside. Once you are back below 600m and you are up for a bit of target practice, you might get a shot of a professional rifle at targets of up to 350m. Animal siting’s may include Red, Roe Deer, Badger’s, Pine Martins, Red Squirrel, Buzzards, Golden Eagles Sea Eagles and possibly wild cats. Binoculars will be available if you don’t have any to bring. This trip is of medium difficulty but can be tailored to suit any abilities and interests. Call or message Tam to talk through what would make the perfect day out for you.
