📸 Behind the Scenes in Jackfield…

The stage is set, the chairs are out, and the final preparations are underway for tonight’s commemoration of the Coalport Ferry Disaster of 1799 at The Boat Inn.

Pupils from Coalbrookdale & Ironbridge CE Primary School have been hard at work rehearsing their original play That Fateful Day, bringing to life one of the most poignant stories in Ironbridge Gorge history.

⚓ Happening Tonight in Jackfield

The Coalport Ferry Disaster of 1799 claimed the lives of 28 workers, some as young as 8 years old, when a ferry crossing the River Severn capsized.

Join us for an evening of drama, music and local history as we remember those who lost their lives and the generations of workers who helped shape Ironbridge Gorge.
