The time is almost upon us! The Vikings are back in town this weekend as Largs Viking Festival begins!⚔️🔥

The annual festival marks the Battle of Largs 1263 between the Scots and Norse - and kicks off with the big opening parade through the town from 1pm this Saturday!

The festival runs until 6th September and visitors of all ages can look forward to:
🛖The Viking Village🛖
Open every day from 10am -5pm (Wed 10am-2pm)
Step into a world of swords, shields, stories and sagas! Open daily throughout the festival, the Viking Village is packed with live combat, ancient crafts, hands-on fun, and fierce family-friendly adventures. Get your tickets in advance or on the gate!

🎶Free Entertainment🎶
Performances from a variety of acts on the entertainment stage throughout the weekends and the Thurs/ Fri nights

🪘Festival Market🪘
A large market with a wide range of creative traders open every day on the Prom from 10am-6pm.

🔥Festival of Fire🔥
The big one - A huge unmissable night on the Largs event calendar, Saturday 5 September is the Festival of Fire! A battle re-enactment (ticketed) is followed by a torchlit procession on the prom, burning of the longboat and spectacular fireworks.

🎠A large fun fair (run independently to festival) will also be situated at the Prom throughout the week🎠

Visit Marymass Saturday to experience a fun-filled day of celebrations including:

🐴The Marymass Parade, one of the largest horse drawn processions in Scotland with music & colour bringing a carnival feel to the streets of Auld Irvine

👑The crowning of the Marymass Queen: an hour of fantastic local entertainment outside Irvine Townhouse before this year's Queen is crowned

🎪An epic afternoon of entertainment at Irvine Moor including a medieval stunt show, horse racing, a huge funfair, giant free kids activity zone, food and craft market and of course the famous greasy pole climb - the unique tradition which has recently gained attention across the country!

Discover the dinosaur print at Kildonan Shore on the Isle of Arran! 🦖

On the rock platform 50m in front of the car park is a large footprint that is visible at low tide. It was left by a giant reptile that roamed Arran around 240 million years ago. Its name Chirotherium means ‘hand‐beast’, because the tracks look like giant human hand prints.
