This Georgian style Victorian home sleeps up to 15 people, perfect for families and large groups to stay and explore the surrounding area. Cumbria House is located on a quiet street in the heart of Keswick, a couple of minutes walk from the town centre, its bars, cafés, restaurants and shops, and has great access to the surrounding lakes and fells. Self catering: you will have exclusive use of the

whole house; eight bedrooms each with their own bathroom, a dining room, a large kitchen, two lounges, a utility room, drying room and south facing patio. There is free super-fast wifi throughout and a large private off-street car park for seven cars. Room-only stays: for a few weeks of the year we are able to offer our eight en-suite bedrooms for room-only stays. Perfect for individuals and couples, there is also access to the guest lounge, drying room and south facing patio.

Who knows where this is? **spoiler below**

We biked from Keswick yesterday, down St John's in the Vale and on to Thirlmere reservoir. This leads on an stunning circuit of the reservoir on varied and quiet roads. First over the Thirlmere dam heading south around the back of the reservoir with views of Helvellyn, then climbing up to the fire roads that leads back north to complete the circuit. The views here are epic ! 😯

Stunning September 😍 This time of year so often brings calm early mornings with mist rising from the lakes. Whether you'd like a short walk down to Derwentwater, or breakfast at Buttermere its absolutely worth the early start.

Morning views from the house today 😍 If you'd like a last minute trip to Keswick we still have some room-only availability for the next three nights 17, 18, 19th September.

In the photos: looking east towards Latrigg, Blencathra and Clough Head off on the right of the photo. Rooms one, two, four and seven face in this direction.

And looking west towards Grisedale, Barrow, Causey Pike (with Cat Bells & Maiden Moor just out of shot on the left). Rooms three, five, six and eight face in this direction.

We were lucky enough to have clear skies for the Aurora Borealis on Monday, with a few Perseid meteors too. These photos are from the shores of Derwentwater.

If you missed them, there's a possibility of more aurora this Friday night 🤞✨️🌙🌌 You can get alerts from the Aurora Watch UK app. Red alerts are the only ones I stay up late for! For info, this display was a red alert of around 200nT.

If you're going to be looking for them with the naked eye, it might be useful to know that this display was faintly visible by eye - especially the columns of light and the reddish glow. The photos were taken with a 30 second exposure, so are quite a bit brighter.

One of the greatest joys of running our business is witnessing the love, connection, and happiness that our guests experience while enjoying the beauty of the Lake District.

However, recent events have deeply saddened us, as our Black and Brown communities face fear and intimidation due to racial violence. We want to be clear: we stand firmly against racism and support our Black and Brown guests and neighbours.

A beautiful evening walk in Borrowdale. All of this is on the doorstep when you stay in Keswick ✨️

To make the most of the evening light, you can catch a bus to Lodore which is just 10-15 minutes down the Borrowdale Valley. After exploring a little of the west side of the lake you can meander back to Keswick along the eastern shore. Just delightful.

A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to attend a taster day at the Lakeland Wellbeing centre here in Keswick. And what a fantastic experience it was. Jen and her team offer a wide range of therapies and treatments at the centre, including massage, mindfulness, reiki, and reflexology. The space itself feels absolutely tranquil, and if you need a bit of TLC while you're here in Keswick we would highly recommend it.

Jen also has many outdoor options such as wild wellbeing retreats, firewalling, forest bathing and lots more. If you'd like to know more you can contact her via her page above, or via the website which I've linked in the comments.
