Fresh Autumn Mornings in Keswick, The Lake District 📍🍂

28/10/2026

Winter is on its way to the Lake District… ❄️

We can’t wait for the first dusting of snow on the fell tops, frosty mornings and those crisp, cold days that make the views around Keswick even more beautiful. It’s such a lovely time of year to explore the Lakes, especially when you’ve got somewhere warm and cosy to come back to afterwards.

Who else loves the Lake District in winter? 🤍

Planning a family trip to Keswick? Here’s a few places worth adding to your list! 🏔️

From exploring the tunnels at Honister Slate Mine and discovering the optical illusions at The Puzzling Place to, there’s plenty to keep the whole family busy.

And if you’re after something a little quieter, you can’t beat a walk along Derwentwater or a visit to Friar’s Crag (a suggestion for a walk one)

One of the things we love about Cumbria House is having so much to explore right on our doorstep, with plenty more just a short drive away. Save this for your next family trip to the Lakes!

Another little recommendation from us at Cumbria House! ⛰️

If you’re heading out for a walk in Borrowdale, the Glaramara Centre is well worth knowing about and stopping in. We stopped by recently and had some lovely soup with homemade bread, which went down very well after being out walking!

You can pop in for lunch or just stop for a cup of tea and some homemade shortbread. There’s a lovely lounge with a roaring fire in the colder months, and the views aren’t bad either!

Definitely worth a visit if you’re spending the day exploring Borrowdale 🥾☕️

Not every group needs the same sleeping arrangements! 🏡

One of the great thing is that our bedrooms can be adapted to suit who’s coming to stay. Planning a weekend with friends, a family get-together or a walking trip? Some of our double rooms can also be made up as twins, giving you a little more flexibility when organising your stay.

With room for up to 15 people, we can help make sure the sleeping arrangements work for your group. Just let us know what you need when booking!
