Late-season escapes have their own kind of magic ✨ In fact, September might just be one the best months to travel in Europe, and not enough people take advantage of it. The heat is less intense, the crowds far smaller, and you’re left with that sweet, in-between season feeling where everything feels a little more laid-back
Restaurants and beaches are easier to enjoy without queues or sunbed scrambles. Hotels and flights are often better value. And the weather is still gloriously warm in all the right places, but without that “how am I sweating at 9am?” kind of intensity 😅
We really do love this time of year for exploring popular cities like Rome, Barcelona, and Lisbon because the streets start to feel a bit more local again. Or for something slower-paced, try Montenegro’s Bay of Kotor or the smaller Greek Islands, both still sunny and stunning, but without the peak-season buzz
It’s also a great time to plan last-minute. Fewer people travelling means more choice, and as the season comes to a close there are some brilliant offers to be had, and just a bit more breathing room in general
So if you’re not quite ready to pack away the sunglasses and bikinis but you’re over the crowds, September might just be calling 👀
