Being able to ride a bike and being confident on mountain bike trails are two very different things.

George came along to one of our private coaching sessions recently. He was already a confident cyclist but wanted to start mountain biking. 🚵‍♂️

Before we even got onto the trails, we worked on his body position and how he reacted under pressure.

It's something I focus on with almost every rider I coach, regardless of experience.

Once we'd got the foundations right, we took those skills onto rock gardens, drops and jumps.

It's always great seeing someone start to build that confidence and realise what they're capable of.

What's one skill you wish you'd learned earlier when you started mountain biking?

Last week we welcomed a brilliant group of young riders to Carron Valley for our October Holidays Kids MTB Camp - including lots of new faces and plenty of familiar ones too! 🚵‍♂️🙌

Across the three days, we worked on everything from learning the attack position, bike handling and safety checks to cornering, technical trails and building confidence on the bike.

Whether they came along to learn the basics, push their riding further or simply spend a few days having fun on the trails, it was great to see how much everyone progressed throughout the week. 👏

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us - and to all the parents who trusted us with their young riders!

After such a brilliant summer camp in July and plenty of messages asking “when’s the next one?”, we’re heading back to Carron Valley from 13–15 October for three more days of riding, learning and having fun on the trails.
