The Gobbins is a dramatic, two-mile-long cliff-face path which includes spectacular tubular and suspension bridges, a staircase, caves and tunnels carved through the rock. You will see and hear the waves crashing against the cliffs as they have done for thousands of years. You will hear and feel the wind as it conducts the swell of the sea below your feet. You will feel the sea spray on your face.

You will witness the ever-changing flora and fauna.You will be fascinated by the ancient stories of this place. We encourage online fans to engage on our Social Media channels. Users should therefore make themselves aware of each site's own terms and conditions. We have a team working to reopen the attraction as soon as possible.

The Visitor Centre and café will remain open.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and we will provide further information regarding the reopening of the Gobbins when available.

The Gobbins Visitor Centre and Greedy Gannet are both open today and tomorrow from 9.00am until 4.00pm.
The Greedy Gannet is currently experiencing some technical issues and can accept cash only.

For any Islandmagee residents still without power the Community Centre is open and is available for anyone looking to charge devices or spend some time in heat.

❗️Council has opened three local Community Assistance Hubs today (Saturday 25 January) and tomorrow (Sunday 26 January) for residents across the Borough who have been affected by

➡️The community assistance hubs will operate at the following locations:

• Seven Towers Leisure Centre, Ballymena: 10am-4pm
• Larne Leisure Centre: 10am-4pm
• Carrickfergus Amphitheatre Leisure Centre: 10am – 4pm

⚡️If your electric is still out, please feel free to come along to make use of the warm space, charge your phones/devices or have a shower (please bring own towel and toiletries).

The Gobbins Visitor Centre and The Greedy Gannet will be closed tomorrow due to the weather warning. We will be open again from 9.00am Saturday.

🌬 Storm Éowyn 🌬

A ⛔ RED Warning for Wind⛔ has been issued for NI by the Met Office from between 7am to 2pm on Friday 24 January 2025.

Storm Éowyn will bring very strong winds causing extremely dangerous conditions with widespread disruption and significant impacts expected.

As a result, ALL Council facilities will be CLOSED on Friday 24 January 2025.

This includes:

⛔ Household recycling centres
⛔ Council parks and open spaces
⛔ Council cemeteries
⛔ Town halls and community centres
⛔ Leisure centres
⛔ Council public toilets
⛔ Ballymena Showgrounds
⛔ Museums and attractions

* Online Council Services will still be available.

🚛 Bin collections:

There will be NO bin collections on Friday 24 January 2025:

🔹Black bins due to be collected tomorrow in , will now be lifted on Saturday 25 January.
🔹Blue bins due to be collected tomorrow in , will now be lifted Saturday 25 January.
🔹Brown bins in and due to be collected tomorrow, will be lifted on Friday 7 February.

* Bryson Recycling have advised there will be NO kerbie box collections on Friday 24 January or Saturday 25 January 2025.

Keep yourself and others safe; avoid travelling by road during potentially dangerous conditions - It is not safe to drive in these conditions.

Please note, Council does not supply sandbags.

If your home is in imminent danger or has been flooded please ring floodline on T: 0300 2000 100.

Don't risk injury to others or damage to your property.

If you can do so safely, check for loose items outside your home and secure them.

Items include; bins, garden furniture, trampolines, tents, sheds, and fences.

If you live or work on the coast, beware of large waves, even from the shore large breaking waves can sweep you off your feet and out to sea.

In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
