Next Wednesday, 10th June, a Dementia Adviser from Alzheimer’s Society, will be with Lechlade Community Library and Tourist Information Centre from 10.30am to around noon.

There will be a short introduction as to how the Society can provide support to people from pre-diagnosis onwards, followed by a Q&A until about 11am

There will then be one‑to‑one drop‑in sessions when you can ask any questions about dementia, as well as the emotional, practical and financial help available.

Anyone who is living with dementia, carers, family members, neighbours, or anyone wanting to understand what support is available locally is welcome.

You can join at any point — you don’t need to attend the introduction first.

šŸ’›šŸŒŸ It’s Volunteers’ Week AND Libraries Change Lives Week

It’s the perfect time to celebrate the wonderful people who keep Lechlade Community Library and Tourist Information Centre thriving.

Our volunteers help with everything from shelving books and supporting digital skills to running events, assisting with family activities, keeping our spaces tidy, welcoming visitors, and sharing their brilliant local knowledge — and they make the library a warm, welcoming place for everyone.

šŸ‘‰ Thinking of volunteering? Come in for a chat — we’d love to tell you more.

šŸŽ‰ Happy Birthday to Crime Fiction Legend Val McDermid!

Today we’re celebrating the brilliant Val McDermid — born 4th June 1955 — one of the defining voices of modern crime writing and a leading figure in Tartan Noir.

šŸ•µļøā€ā™€ļø What’s Tartan Noir?
It’s Scotland’s own brand of crime fiction: dark, atmospheric, full of complex characters, and rooted in real places and real issues. If you enjoy gripping mysteries with depth and edge, this is the genre for you.

šŸ“š And the best part?
You can borrow Val McDermid’s books right here at Lechlade Community Library and Tourist Information Centre — or order more through Gloucestershire Libraries for easy collection.

šŸ‘‰ Pop in this week and pick up one of her page‑turners.
A perfect way to celebrate a master of the genre.
