Just back from Amsterdam on a cruise, and what a fantastic city! 🇳🇱

One of the biggest surprises was just how much we managed to see with an overnight stay. We wandered along the beautiful canals, stopped for drinks in trendy cafés, explored the historic streets and soaked up the atmosphere.

The highlight for me was visiting the Anne Frank House. An incredibly moving experience that had me in tears most of the way round. Such an important piece of history and somewhere I think everyone should visit at least once.

We also visited the S*x Museum… which was probably the weirdest experience of the trip! 😂 Let’s just say it was full of perverts lol !

Of course, we had to take a walk through the famous Red Light District. We were back on the ship by 9pm, just as it was starting to get busy. Fascinating to see, but the city felt far safer and less seedy than I expected.

A few observations:
🚲 Everyone rides a bike!
🚋 Public transport is brilliant and easy to use.
🌿 You definitely notice the smell of cannabis in places.
🧁 No, I didn’t try the special cakes!
🏛️ The history is everywhere you look.

The best part? We walked off the ship and were in the city centre within about 10 minutes. No airports, no transfers, no stress.

If you’ve never considered Amsterdam, a short cruise is such an affordable and easy way to experience this amazing city. I’d go back in a heartbeat. ❤️

It’s been an amazing few days away . I loved the Ventura. Although the ship is slightly older than I have travelled on . I loved the food and the staff . Great for the shorter cruises and Amsterdam is such a great place to visit x

🚢 I’ve just got back from this cruise… and honestly, I can see why so many people keep booking it again and again!

Yes, Ventura is one of the older ships in the P&O fleet, but don’t let that put you off. The ship has a fantastic atmosphere, plenty of places to relax, great entertainment (the theatre shows were genuinely West End quality!), and the food was excellent.

🌷 Amsterdam was an absolute delight to explore too – with an overnight stay, there’s plenty of time to wander the canals, visit the cafes, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the city without feeling rushed.

What surprised me most? The mix of people onboard. Young couples, groups of friends, families and older couples all having a great time together. It felt friendly, relaxed and great value for money.
