I’m now taking a week off from doing the tours to be one of the main compères at this years International Beatleweek festival which starts tomorrow morning. I have the pleasure and honour once again of introducing the first acts on stage at the world’s most famous club The Cavern and nearly 100 bands and artists over the next seven days, nights and early mornings at more venues including Hulme Hall and The Adelphi…Here’s the link to all of the gigs and events taking place. Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting the man who formerly owned the original Magical Mystery Tour bus that The Beatles used in the film. Bob Newely shared his story which will be on the Magical Mystery Tour page soon. The bus is now at the Hard Rock Cafe in Florida

Today marks the 60th Anniversary of the release of the brilliant album Revolver, probably the most innovative and diverse album that The Beatles had written and recorded up to this date in 1966.

Happy August everyone….It means one thing….The final countdown to International Beatleweek starts today, in just over three weeks time, dozens of bands, artists and Beatles fans from across the universe descend on Liverpool for over 800 performances in lots of venues across the city, including a mad day out in Port Sunlight once again. I will be taking a week off from my tour guide duties to be one of the compères and introducing lots of fantastic acts at Hulme Hall, the Adelphi Hotel and of course The Cavern Club over seven days, nights and some very early mornings. I will have the honour once again of introducing the first act on stage on the Wednesday morning and this year also the final act in the early hours of the following Tuesday morning.

Pretty cool moment on my second tour of the day outside Paul’s, and opposite where I was brought up, invited inside Paul’s last home in Liverpool, 20 Forthlin Rd to play the piano in the front room for the first time with my tour group outside observing with the window open. I played a little bit of Lady Madonna, dedicated to my late mum who sadly passed this week 15 years ago, today is my parents wedding anniversary too. Cheers to Mum and Dad who performed together in the 1960’s 🥂

Something pretty magical happened on one of our tours today whilst I was on another tour an hour earlier, they were at the traffic lights outside the Everyman Theatre on Hope St, and there was a guy looking out of his car window waving at the bus full of Beatle fans from all over the world. It was only Sir Paul McCartney AND he was on a FaceTime call with Ringo at the time. It’s all gone viral today and tonight on multiple news and media platforms. I’m delighted for both the driver Neil and guide Tony Curley (another Tony C)., and of course the passengers who have today experienced one of the best Beatles tours you could ever ask for…

69 years ago today, 6th July 1957, two young men officially met for the very first time at St Peter’s Church Hall in Woolton Village here in Liverpool. The Quarrymen had earlier performed during the local Rose Queen parade on the back of a truck, followed by a gig behind St Peter’s Church during the village fete in the afternoon, where Paul first seen the band perform. A young gentleman called Ivan Vaughan introduced John Lennon to Paul McCartney later in the evening as the band were setting up for the grand dance….and the rest, as they say…is HISTORY
