🐑🍌 Ever wondered what that big yellow lamb-shaped banana is all about?

Say hello to Liverpool’s most loveable hybrid icon - the Superlambanana!

Originally created by Japanese artist Taro Chiezo in 1998, the sculpture playfully tackles the serious issue of genetic engineering, while giving a nod to the city’s shipping history (yes – Liverpool used to import lambs and bananas).

🗺️ The original Superlambanana now lives outside Liverpool John Moores University Library, but if you keep your eyes peeled, you’ll spot a few of its colourful cousins across the city too!

🛍️ Want to take one home? Mini Superlambananas are available from our Tourist Information Centre on the ground floor of Liverpool ONE Official
