🇯🇵 Amanemu, Ise-Shima National Park.
Set in the forested hills above Ago Bay in Mie Prefecture, Amanemu is Aman’s first hot spring resort and arguably one of the brands most considered properties.
Twenty-four suites, each with a private onsen fed by mineral-rich spring water, and a 2,000 square metre spa built around the ancient Japanese tradition of thermal bathing.
The setting is key; Ise Jingu, Japan’s most sacred Shinto shrine, is a short drive away, and the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes wind through the forests nearby.
A unique element is that the ama, Japan’s legendary female freedivers, still work the waters of Ago Bay, with the hotel able to arrange a private lunch with one after a morning on the water.
