🦜💦 Another golden moment in the wilds of Brazil! 🇧🇷

The breathtaking vistas and cascading waterfalls of Chapada dos Guimarães were already unforgettable, but watching these magnificent Red-and-Green Macaws fly straight through the waterfall was pure magic! ❤️💚💙

I like to think they were enjoying a refreshing shower in the mist! 😄

We are back from our first Pantanal tour of the season. Sadly I had to leave way too early, but led the group extremely well. These are couple of my pictures from the first 2 days of the tour. Our guests ended up seeing over 150 species of animals (128 species of birds and 15 species of mammals etc.). We had 15+ Jaguar, multiple Brazilian Tapir, Giant River Otter and Giant Anteater sightings. All in all a very successful trip. We will be back in late September in 2027. DM us for details.

Another awesome addition to my growing list of Brazilian raptors! 🇧🇷🦅

This time, a beautiful Crane Hawk (Geranospiza caerulescens), photographed just as it was leaving these flowers after feeding on insects hidden among the flower heads.

Crane Hawks are fascinating, highly adaptable hunters. Their long legs and incredibly flexible ankles help them reach into crevices, tangled vegetation, bromeliads and tree cavities in search of prey. They feed on a wide variety of animals, including insects, lizards, frogs, snakes, small mammals and birds.

They have a broad range across Central and South America and much of Brazil, occupying habitats ranging from forests and wetlands to savannas and forest edges.

Watching this one working through the flowers for insects was a great reminder that raptors don't always hunt in the ways we expect.
Every encounter seems to reveal another little piece of their behaviour and another reason to appreciate these incredible birds. 🪶📸
