Update from Forestry England re Car Park Closures - the most notable are the two at Longslade for works to be carried out on the footbridges:

Ober Corner car park and Whitley Wood near Lyndhurst are both closed to protect wildlife during the autumn season.
Anderwood, Clay Hill, near Burley, the Reptile Centre, Standing Hat and Osmond's Bushes car parks are all currently closed.
Longslade Bottom and Longslade View car parks will be closed from 27 November, for 2 months. Alternative nearby car parks include Setthorns, Horseshoe Bottom, Longslade Heath and Wilverley Inclosure.
This closure is to allow for major works to replace a pair of derelict bridges over the old railway track at Longslade that forms part of a popular walking, cycling and horse-riding trail in the New Forest.

🍄 It's 🍂 🍄

Autumn is peak time for a wide variety of fabulous fungi in the National Park. If you're out and about, please look but don't touch and leave the fungi for the wildlife and others to enjoy.

The New Forest is one of the most important sites for in Britain, and there are more than 2,700 species of fungi in the National Park alone. They’re essential to the Forest’s ecosystem, which is why the New Forest National Park Authority, together with partners such as Forestry England are appealing to people to look, but please don’t pick.

As we all reflect on our memories this article tells us about the times HRH Queen Elizabeth II visited the New Forest.

As the New Forest and Christchurch mourns the Queen's death, the A&T looks back at the times she graced the area with her presence.

From Hardley Fire station... the view from inside their fire truck.

This is the scene that greeted us when we were called to a fire in the New Forest (Fawley Enclosure) earlier today.

These access gates must be kept clear at all times, they provide essential access for our Firefighters and other emergency services to get within the enclosures.

WE ARE AT HIGH FIRE RISK - please don't block gates, you never know when access is needed and fire travels fast!
