Our cottages are a place where the past and modern comforts blend to create a unique experience for our guests. Each of our four self-catering holiday homes has been meticulously restored and furnished. They have their own charm and character reflecting their history, and are surrounded by the gorgeous Exmoor countryside.

We want all our guests to feel like they are staying in a home-from-home, and that includes your dogs who get their own treat when they arrive.

Many of our dedicated followers don’t know how Exmoor Character Cottages started... A degree in history, a passion for property and interiors and a love of Exmoor, I fell in love with the charming medieval cottage “The Oval” in Dunster. But to pay for it, I needed to share it with paying guests. I was very quickly seduced by the thrill of restoring this cottage and now have four Grade II listed holiday homes - all restored and furnished to reflect their unique character. Sharing them with appreciative guests from all over the UK, Europe and indeed the world, is an utter joy.

Our cottages are situated in beautiful areas that have inspired artists for centuries, continuing to do so to this day.

On one of the hottest days of the year, we persuaded the Exmoor Character Cottages team to take a breather from a changeover and pose on the Church Steps to recreate artist Ashleigh Bishop’s delicate art drawings.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected by yesterday’s tragic coach accident. We want to thank all our guests for sending support to us and to Minehead - a little town with a place in so many people’s heart.

In every corner of our cottages, you’ll find something unique or quirky. There’s also lots of info on the area, from vintage photos to local OS maps to Exmoor magazines. We pride ourselves on the quality of the cottage decor, ensuring you feel at home and get the most from your stay.
