Cara Hudson - Travel Counsellors

Cara Hudson - Travel Counsellors Once you're back home with your newly created memories and thousand-and-one photos, I'll be delighted to hear all about your holiday highlights!

I’m a Personal & Luxury Travel Counsellor with 24+ years in the travel industry, creating tailored travel experiences with a focus on long-haul journeys, especially Thailand, inspired by my Lukkrueng (Half-Thai) heritage. As a 'Luk Krueng' (Half Thai) born in a working class town during the mid-80s, my background seemed intriguing and out of the ordinary to many, yet venturing across the world to

visit my mother's family home (a wooden house on stilts based deep in the Thai jungle) was just a normal part of my early life. This unique upbringing instilled in me a passion for travel since as long as I can remember, the extent that my thirst for new adventures can never quite be quenched through my own experiences alone. And that's where you come in...

By creating a crystal clear picture of who you are and exactly what you are looking to get from your holiday, I'll delve into yours and your fellow travellers' minds, to the point that I can visualise being on your adventures with you! (Don't worry though, whilst I'll be contactable should you need my help with anything during your trip, I do promised not to book an extra ticket onto your flight or turn up at your hotel pool with lilo in hand.) My travel journey so far...

Since making the local headlines following my first visit to the Thai jungle in 1987, I've returned to Thailand over 30 times, including a four-year period teaching English to Thai children, enabling me to further explore Thailand and other parts of Asia. Since completing my Travel and Tourism qualification and beginning my travel career and becoming a Thailand product specialist in 2003, I have gained first-hand knowledge of both economy and business class for a wide variety of airline carriers. I have also have the opportunity to experience some of the world's most amazing hotels, including the 7 star hotel in Abu Dhabi, The Emirates Palace. I'm on course for my goal of visiting 40 countries worldwide by 2020. A few I've visited to date include Laos, Hong Kong, The Philippines. Qatar, Sri Lanka, Canada, Barbados, St. Lucia, Portugal, Switzerland, Malta and Bulgaria. Here are some of my most memorable highlights:

- Venturing up Mount Fuji during my trip to the rising sun, Japan, whilst visiting my sister and Japanese brother-in-law.

- Exploring the recently uncovered ancient temples of Angkor Wat, Cambodia. (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

- Sandboarding down the sand dunes under the starry sky, whilst camping in the Dubai desert. Remember, if you do happen to pick a destination I haven't yet experienced personally, I have access to the combined first-hand knowledge of over 1,600 fellow Travel Counsellors to call upon if needed! For those who work 9-5 Monday to Friday, do not worry, I am available in the evening and on weekends. Contact me however you like, whether it's through email or phone (whichever you feel most comfortable with). Look forward to having a good natter with you! Many Thanks

Cara.

Had a fantastic time up in Edinburgh catching up with friends and attending the TC Together event at the beautiful Virgin Hotel, a small but stunning venue that provided the perfect backdrop for the event. ✨

Despite getting caught in a few rain showers during my whirlwind 24-hour visit (classic Scottish weather!), I still managed to have a good wander around the city, including a trip up Calton Hill, enjoying (ish) another wee dram, and listening to some live music - which came with the unexpected bonus of all of us witnessing a marriage proposal! 💍

Here’s a photo of me moments before getting rained on during my walk to the TC event, along with a few other snapshots from my time in this beautiful city. 📸

It was brilliant to hear all about the latest developments in tech, meet some of the fantastic suppliers we work with, hear about the current destinations that are trending, and discuss all things social media. Most importantly, it was a great opportunity to reconnect with friends, while also meeting some new faces along the way.

I absolutely love this city and can’t wait to be back again soon. Thanks again for having me, Edinburgh! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿✨

I was so happy to help play a part in bringing their family back together here in England, with loved ones travelling over from Australia and Canada. This included rearranging flights originally scheduled through the Middle East to help make the reunion possible.

Yesterday was such a lovely evening, when I'd popped around to see everyone ❤️

Seeing everyone reunited was incredibly rewarding, and this thoughtful gift was such a lovely surprise. Thank you so much again for this incredibly beautiful gift 🥹❤️

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your time here together. 💕 Remember, I'll be joining the next reunion 😉

Moments like these remind me why I do what I do - helping bring loved ones together is always so special. 🥰

🔹🔹 QUICK UPDATE 🔹🔹

I’ve been a little quieter on social media recently - for good reason.

The past couple of weeks have been incredibly busy, with the ongoing situation in the Middle East affecting many travel plans. My focus has been on helping clients currently in resort whose journeys suddenly needed to change, while also keeping a close eye on upcoming departures to stay ahead of any possible disruption.

That’s meant late nights, early mornings, and keeping in touch with travellers across different time zones - making sure everything is taken care of so they can continue enjoying their holiday.

I’ve been rearranging flights when routes were cancelled, finding alternative ways to get clients where they need to be, dealing directly with suppliers and working closely with our Head Office team - whose behind-the-scenes support has been invaluable - so my clients don’t have to spend hours on hold, while closely monitoring journeys as the situation continues to evolve. I’m proud to be part of such an incredible Travel Counsellors team.

One example from this week was a couple of clients who were due to return home via the Middle East when their flights were disrupted. By working through the ever-changing airline policies and available options, I was able to quickly secure an alternative route for them and, thankfully, they still made it back to the UK on the same day they were due to arrive - without needing to figure it all out themselves.

Another client was due to travel to Dubai before continuing on to Thailand when the situation began to affect their plans. I was able to step in before they departed and rearrange their itinerary so they could still enjoy their time in Thailand as planned.

It’s the side of travel most people don’t see.

The constant checking.
The problem-solving.
The calls and messages at all hours.

But it’s also exactly why having a personal travel professional matters. When plans change, my clients know they have someone in their corner - someone who knows their itinerary, makes the calls, and finds the solutions.

Travel isn’t just about booking a holiday. It’s about having the right support when things don’t go to plan.

That’s what I’ve been focused on over the last couple of weeks. ❤️

Thank you so much for your patience during this time - I’m also still working on your lovely enquiries and want to make sure I can give each one the time and attention it deserves, just as I normally would, so things are just taking a little longer than usual at the moment.

For those departing in the next couple of weeks, I’ve already been in touch - you’re on my radar.

✨ Currently designing something very special… ✨

A journey filled with moments that make you pause and think, “This is why I travel.”

🚆 Coffee just inches from a passing train.
⛵ Waking up on a luxury cruise surrounded by towering limestone cliffs.
🏮 Lantern-lit streets glowing at dusk.
🚣 Spinning in a traditional bamboo basket boat.
🌙 Bustling night markets alive with energy.
🏛️ Ancient towns rich in history and character.
👩‍🍳 Cooking with locals.
🌶️ A true foodie paradise - from street stalls to refined rooftop dining.
🚴 Cycling through rice paddies that stretch endlessly ahead.
🗿 Ancient ruins that truly take your breath away.
✨ Golden temples glowing in the evening light.
💃 Traditional dance performances full of culture and story.
🌿 Jungle walks through lush landscapes.
🚣 Kayaking through dramatic scenery.
🤿 Crystal-clear waters… and the occasional “was that a turtle?” moment.

And that’s just the beginning…

If this sounds like your kind of adventure, let’s create something tailored to you. ✨
