To celebrate the amazing businesses, both large and small, across Northallerton we showcase two each week.

This week, our ‘Businesses of the week’ are Mount Grace Priory, House and Gardens and The Terrace Cafe and Takeaway Northallerton.

Whichever business gets the most likes on their logo / image (on our post) during the week, will be in the running for our Business of the Year award 2026!

Last weekend, one of our amazing volunteers visited Saint Thomas’ Church Brompton Churches in Brompton as part of the Heritage Open Days events.

Brompton has a rich history of stone carvings dating as far back as the 7th century. The most famous of which are the Hogback Stones, which are believed to be grave covers. So much so that you can see some on display at Durham Cathedral. The churches Wheel Head Crosses are also considered fine specimens of pre-conquest sculpture.

Something exciting is coming to The Golden Lion in 2027… 🏍️☕️

From April, we’ll be joining the Bike + Brew Passport, a scheme that encourages bikers to get out on the road, discover new places and collect stamps along the way.
Riders can pick up a passport and collect a stamp at each participating café they visit, with every 10 stamps putting them into the prize draw.

We’re looking forward to welcoming bikers to The Golden Lion as one of the stops on the route and being part of the adventure.

We’ll be sharing more details as they’re released, so keep an eye on our page and get ready to add us to your Bike + Brew route next year!
