Forget Mont Blanc. There’s a different kind of winter adventure waiting in Montenegro. 🇲🇪

Welcome to Kolašin, where you can ski and snowboard without the crowds, explore quiet mountain trails on snowshoes and take in the wild beauty of the Dinaric Alps, all without the usual Alpine fanfare. Adventure doesn’t stop at a certain age, sometimes you just need the right people and the right place to enjoy it with. 🇲🇪

Our latest Wonderways group of nine Belgians, all 40+, came to Montenegro ready for new experiences and fun times – and they definitely made the most of it! 🤙

From canyoning thrills at a spectacular gorge, to kayaking in glorious sunshine on Lake Skadar and autumn vibes on woodland hikes, this was a brilliant week with a brilliant group, with Villa Miela Lake Retreat as their base for it all. 💚

We only host a few yoga retreats a year in Montenegro, so when they come around, they're pretty special. 🌿

It has been a joy to welcome back the wonderful Yoga with Fiona for a week of late-summer adventures and chance to slow down, stretch and recharge. From meditative mornings on Villa Miela's woodland deck to kayaking across the vast Lake Skadar, wild swimming, fun in the 4x4s, delicious food, great company and warm September sunshine. And those pink skies over the floodplains. 💗

A huge thank you to our lovely group, and to Fiona, for a brilliant week in Montenegro's wilds.

Our May & June 2027 retreats are already full, but we can add you to the wait list. Our autumn retreat is still to be announced, so watch this space...

Think Montenegro's just the beach? Think again! 🏔️

When a group of 8 adventurous souls from Boise, Idaho got in touch, the coast wasn't on their wish list. This is mountain country, and they wanted the rugged inland that's our speciality.

So we created a tailor-made 7-day adventure taking in the best of Montenegro's lakes, forests and mountains:

💧 Swimming in bright blue pools under equally blue skies
🥾 Mountain hiking to epic ridge-lines up at Durmitor National Park
🍷 Wine-tasting, Montenegro-style, where friendly boutique vintners pour straight from the barrel

Meet Dianacroftartist, the newest addition to our Undiscovered Montenegro team! 🎨💚

She’s an exceptionally talented artist specialising in acrylics and pastels, who headed to Lake Skadar last week to lead her first ever retreat overseas, at . And it all went swimmingly (she’s a waterbaby too, of course 😉).

We’ve already heard some great things from our first group to try this new experience, with Linda writing in to tell us: “Diana’s teaching and guidance was supportive, joyful, informative and a thorough celebration of Montenegro / drawing and painting — loved it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

And the good news? Diana will be returning in 2027 to host another art retreat with us, in week commencing 5th September! 🙌

September means grape-picking season in Montenegro! 🍇

And that's very good news for us (and our guests!), because it means plenty of opportunities to enjoy some of the local w**e – and sometimes even get involved in the process.

Montenegro's w**e culture goes back some 2,000 years, and the vines around Lake Skadar – our favourite place for adventures – produce two real local stars: Vranac, a bold, deep red that's proudly considered the national grape, and Krstač, a crisp, aromatic white that's less known outside the country but very much worth seeking out. The Crmnica region, just along the lake, is regarded as the heartland for both.

Our artists based at this week – our hillside retreat at Lake Skadar – have been making the most of being here for the w**e harvest – visiting a local cellar, sketching grapes, and even helping stir the fermenting juice before reaching the best part... tasting it! 🍷

THIS is September hiking in Montenegro's mountains. ☀️🌧️

Blue skies one day. Cloud and mist the next. And sometimes, both before you’ve even finished breakfast.

Our hiking group last week got seriously lucky - stellar weather for their first few days, with accompanying crystal-clear views from the mountain tops, golden early-autumn colour, and chance to witness traditional pastoral shepherding, as well as women foraging blueberries and juniper on the mountainsides.

Then came the final day: low cloud and rain that all but wiped out those famous views of Durmitor's Black Lake. They still insist it was a great day too (our guests are nice).

Autumn is our favourite time of year to bring groups to hike Montenegro's highlands. Just come prepared: bring layers and waterproofs, and accept that plans may need to change.

It's week one of our two back-to-back art retreats in Montenegro this autumn, and we're so happy to welcome back artist Karen Pearson, alongside our nature-loving, arty guests. 🎨🌿

This September may be a sultry one, but we're keeping cool, working in swims every day alongside painting in some stunning locations:
