Following a number of messages and calls about the nonsense posted by The Meteors, we feel the need to post an announcement to clarify the facts.

THE METEORS

With regards to the online statement and ludicrous suggestions made by THE METEORS within their social media accounts, incorrectly damning our booking agent, Baz Barrett, which have been followed by calls and messages from numerous parties, even those with no connection to any such matter, we feel we now need to present a statement to the public to clarify the facts of the situation.
Prior to the UK tour Mr Fenech has informed us of his home being destroyed in a fire and that he had been seriously injured from the fire. It was suggested the tour be rescheduled in order for him to seek medical treatment and to regain fitness. It was also suggested that as flights were already booked, he may want to use the NHS for his treatment as he is a British citizen. This suggestion was refused and Mr Fenech insisted that the tour was to go ahead as planned. On his arrival in the UK, it was mentioned by a number of people, being his friends and audience members, that Mr Fenech appeared very ill and frail.
For a number of weeks, prior to the tour, the Ireland promoters were asking for The Meteors to accept the ‘Admin’ invitation, as is a standard procedure when advertising events within Facebook, for their Dublin and Belfast events, in order to create further publicity and promotion of their upcoming events. Due to low ticket sales, the organiser was naturally concerned that the immediate fan base wasn’t being reached and was requesting the standard, basic promotional assistance from the artist. It was later suggested that Mr Fenech take part in a pod cast / interview, which he ignored for a number of days and then flatly refused, despite my attempts to persuade him to conduct the interview so to create the necessary publicity. This was discussed and eventually agreed and arranged for the days leading up to their trip to Ireland but Mr Fenech failed to reply to the interviewers’ emails, messages and calls. On the day of the arranged interview, Mr Fenech then insisted, and to use his words “We don’t do interviews”.
At around 6pm on September 18th 2026, we were contacted by the event organiser/promoter of the Dublin event, to state that the band had not yet arrived. We contacted Mr Fenech directly yet had no response. We then contacted the whole travel party via the group chat that had been set up for such situations as this. As there was no response from any of the travel party, the police to enquire about the possibility of the travellers having been stopped or had an issue. It was only after contacting the police that we received a response from the group chat to state that Mr Fenech was unwell and "Unable To Walk To The Venue" and that the band had been “Driving Around For Hours” but “Couldn’t Find Anywhere to Park nor Unload”, to which they were asked why none of the travel party had made any contact with the venue, the event organiser nor ourselves. At this point we were advised that, allegedly, one of the travel party had gone ahead, on foot, to the venue. Not once but twice. Somehow, he didn’t feel it necessary to ask the staff for assistance in finding parking spaces nor loading areas. All of this is is considered quite strange as the band have performed at this particular venue on a number of occasion and have previously managed to gain access and load into the venue with little to no issue.
We advised the travel party to contact the organiser and/or venue to explain their situation. Contact details for the organiser were presented to the band members again and vice versa, for each party to make all of the relevant arrangements directly. After this, the travel party claimed they needed to take Mr Fenech to hospital as his health was deteriorating. The travellers were advised to get Mr Fenech straight to a doctor or to a hospital without any further delay.
From here, the promoter announced the event was to be cancelled, along with the Belfast show, stating that if Mr Fenech was indeed in such a bad way, then he wouldn’t be fit for the following show and the promoter did not wish to add to the pressures faced by Mr Fenech. All quite reasonable in the light of this situation. In order that the organiser could make a claim from their event insurance, it was requested that Mr Fenech provided the name of the medic that he was seen by, he provide an photograph of his hospital admission wristband or his discharge papers. This caused a dispute from the band and they refused and failed to provide any evidence of the hospital visit or indeed of any medical treatment. This has now lead to the organiser being out of pocket for a very substantial amount of money and from this point, the question arose as to whether the band had actually travelled to Ireland. As no evidence of the arrival in Ireland and / or any medical treatment has been provided it was then deemed the responsibility of the band to cover the losses. After all, this could have all been and still can be resolved by one call, message or email with the necessary information required by the organisers’ insurers. This escalated into a potential visit to the band in order to collect compensation, where the organiser then established the hotels had not been used on either date of the trip. Again, raising question as to whether the band had actually made the trip to Ireland at all.
After discussion with close friends of Mr Fenech, we agreed to send payment to the promoter in order to cover their unnecessary costs and in order to avoid any potential and unnecessary actions being taken by either party which may have led to much greater issues.
Ultimately, the band are at fault and are responsible for any costs incurred. These costs still could be recovered with the provision of the requested documentation. However, it now appears the band had not made the trip to Ireland. We believe that Mr Fenech has opted to take on the tour, expecting to need medical intervention and intended to simply 'make a few quid' in the interim. All whilst putting his own health, his band members and friends at risk and simply looking out for number one. Our position as a booking agent, is to ensure neither party is ‘shafted’ by the another and all necessary arrangements are made to limit damages to either party, in the same manner as any 'agreement'.
Hopefully this will clear up this little matter and allow the bands fans, the promoters and the band, to move on with the knowledge that the correct procedures were followed by our staff and our agency in order to protect the artist and the promoters against any potential actions being taken.
