This photograph shows Beatrix Potter alongside Canon Hardwicke Rawnsley, best known as one of the three founders of the National Trust.

He became friend and mentor to Beatrix, helping her to publish her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit.

In a letter ✉️ to Hardwicke's wife Eleanor in 1934, Beatrix wrote, ‘I wish there may be a sufficient representative number of the old farms in the hands of the Trust.’

Beatrix left 4,000 acres of land and 15 farms to the National Trust when she died in 1943. To this day, Hill Top is still a working farm run by the Dixon family. 🐑

Yours truly will be doing a talk and presentation there too sharing behind the scenes tales and insights producing my recent hit film ‘Cumbrian Red’ as seen on the BBC! 👍🐿️🎥

I’ll be doing a talk 90mins approx on both days;

SATURDAY 1PM and SUNDAY 11AM inside the hotel.

I’ll be mingling about too along with my good friends from the Penrith & District Red Squirrel Group including red scamp mummy Sarah and ranger Jerry who feature in my film 😊🤩🐿️🎥

We all look forward to seeing you there and hopefully enjoy seeing red cuties together scampering about the woodlands and gill there - which is pretty much guaranteed 😉😉👍
