These two may not have a family yet but we have seen our first brood this year with a duck and six ducklings. The herons and egrets are nesting on Heron Island and we have several pairs of both Canada and Greylag Geese waiting for their young to hatch.

Even the geese love a gander over the lake, in the spring sunshine, from the front of the house! ☀️🍃

Every season is stunning here at Lake Lodge, Maxey and currently our snowdrops are flowering fabulously! Whether it's a stroll through our wonderful woodland and gardens or a row on the lake, there is plenty of beautiful nature to be seen.

There’s also a sneak peak at the house's lakeside view and our tennis court, great spots to relax and unwind.

I love the way Lake Lodge wakes up at this time of year. At first the lake seems calm and deserted then a kingfisher flies past, an egret arrives on the island, a muntjac deer runs past, a heron starts calling, some mallard fly over, an otter pokes its head up, the squirrels start chattering in the trees and all the other birds seem to wake up at once and join in. I keep my Merlin App busy here identifying all the birds and am amazed at the variety we have.

New lounge furniture arrived today, including two swivel chairs in the bay window so guests can swing round to look out over the lake.

Beautiful swim in the lake today. The water was so warm. Then the Red Arrows flew over. We see them every year on their way to or from an event. This evening I heard strange bird calls that my app identified as a Hobby, similar to a kestrel. I had no idea we had a couple of those in the woods.

Visit from the Canada Geese today. Glad to see there is still a family with six goslings nearly full grown.

Spot the tiny toad. First I have seen this year and there are so many of them heading off to the lake.

The goslings are growing up. Lovely to see this pair of Canada geese still have seven.
