This is one we’ve wanted to put together for a while…

Introducing our new 7-Day Private Islay, Jura & Campbeltown Wh**ky Tour — seven days exploring three extraordinary wh**ky destinations, with the freedom and flexibility that comes with travelling privately.

We’ll cross to Islay for legendary names including Laphroaig, Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Bruichladdich and Kilchoman, with opportunities to choose from warehouse tastings, premium experiences, food pairings and distillery tours.

Then we’ll take the little ferry across to Jura — wild landscapes, the Paps, Craighouse and, of course, Jura wh**ky — before travelling down the Kintyre peninsula for Campbeltown, Springbank, Kilkerran/Glengyle, Glen Scotia and Cadenhead’s.

But this isn’t seven days of simply moving from one tasting room to another.

There’s Machir Bay, Finlaggan and the Lords of the Isles, Dunyvaig Castle, Jura’s extraordinary landscapes, Kintyre, local food, history, photography stops and those spontaneous Slàinte Scotland detours that often become the best part of the trip.

From Scotland’s north coast to the heart of Speyside…

This week has been one of those wonderful reminders of just how much history is hidden between the better-known stops.

We’ve stood at Keiss Harbour, looking out across the wild Caithness coast, travelled north to Dunnet Head, and explored the story of the fishing communities and wh**ky towns that shaped this part of Scotland.

Then south into Speyside — Glenlivet, Benromach, Dufftown and the old wh**ky routes where illicit distillers and smugglers once moved spirit through the glens.

Along the way, we’ve stopped for things that are very easy to drive straight past: the beautiful Rodney Stone, old packhorse bridges and the Smugglers’ Bridge — places where you can still see the landscape people travelled through centuries before our modern roads existed.

And, of course, there has been wh**ky. 🥃 From Old Pulteney on the Caithness coast to Glenlivet in Speyside, the landscape changes — and so does the story in the glass.

These are the days I love guiding most. Not simply travelling from attraction to attraction, but joining the dots between people, places and stories — and stopping when we spot something interesting along the way.

Collect beautiful moments. 💜

I think this little reel sums up what I love about taking people around Scotland.

A multi-day tour isn’t really about getting from attraction A to attraction B. It’s everything that happens in between — a castle that catches your eye, a spectacular stretch of coastline, a story that suddenly connects one place with another, or simply having the time to stop because somewhere is too beautiful to drive past.

This week we’re travelling through Skye, the Black Isle, Clava, Speyside and beyond, mixing Scottish history and landscapes with wh**ky and plenty of exploring along the way.

After all these years guiding, those spontaneous little moments are still some of my favourites.

🥃 We’re on the road again this week — this time exploring Speyside and the north of Scotland on a private wh**ky tour.

Of course, travelling with Slàinte Scotland rarely means just wh**ky.

Today we stopped at beautiful Ballindalloch Castle, where there’s a fascinating story connecting this part of Speyside with Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness.

In 1498/99, James IV granted Ballindalloch and Glencairnie to John Grant of Freuchie. In 1509, that same John Grant received the lands and barony of Urquhart.

For anyone travelling Scotland with Grant ancestry, that’s a lovely connection. Ballindalloch and Urquhart aren’t simply two historic places you might happen to visit on the same holiday — they’re chapters in the wider story of the Grant family.

And, as ever with Scottish history, the family didn’t always agree.

By the first Jacobite Rising in 1689, John Grant of Ballindalloch supported James VII and joined the Jacobite cause, while the senior Grant interest associated with Urquhart supported William and Mary.

Same wider family, but very different choices.

It’s exactly why I love combining Scotland’s history with our touring days. We’re spending this week travelling through Speyside and further north, enjoying the wh**ky that made this region famous, but also making time for the castles, landscapes, people and stories we find along the way.

Because a private wh**ky tour should be about much more than getting from one distillery appointment to the next.

Sometimes the best stops are the ones that aren’t on everybody else’s itinerary. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

During our 4-Day Highlands & Isle of Skye Tour, we took a little time off the beaten path to visit Dun Telve Broch at Glenelg.

Dating from around 400–200 BC, brochs are among the most fascinating prehistoric buildings found in Scotland. Dun Telve is particularly special: parts of its enormous drystone walls still stand over 10 metres high, despite the structure being around 2,000 years old.

You can walk through the entrance, stand inside the broch and see the remains of its chambers, galleries and stairways — all built without modern machinery or mortar.

And this is exactly what our longer Highland tours are about.

Of course we love showing our guests the Isle of Skye, Glencoe and Scotland’s famous castles and landscapes. But having several days together gives us the freedom to turn off the main road and discover places like this too — places where you can stand quietly amongst thousands of years of Scottish history without the crowds.

It seems Newhall Mains knew I was coming! 😂

By complete coincidence, our guests were staying in the Catriona accommodation—I promise I didn’t choose it for the name, although I may have to claim it as my official suite now! ✨

Our guests enjoyed two wonderful nights at this beautiful five-star accommodation on the Black Isle. Set within a lovingly restored 18th-century farmstead, Newhall Mains combines peaceful Highland surroundings, beautifully designed accommodation, genuine warmth and impeccable service.

A moment of peace inside beautiful Dornoch Cathedral. ⛪️✨

Founded by Bishop Gilbert de Moravia in the 13th century, the cathedral has stood at the heart of Dornoch for almost 800 years. It was badly damaged by fire during a clan feud in 1570 before being restored in later centuries.

Today, its ancient stonework, graceful vaulted ceiling and beautiful stained-glass windows create a wonderfully calm and atmospheric place to visit. Another fascinating stop while exploring the Scottish Highlands with Slàinte Scotland. 💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Another wonderful day exploring the Scottish Highlands with our guests, including a visit to the magnificent Dunrobin Castle. 🏰

With its fairytale turrets, beautiful gardens and spectacular falconry display, it’s easy to see why Dunrobin is such a memorable stop on our tours. Even under a typically Scottish sky, the castle looks absolutely magical!

🐬 Dolphin spotting at Chanonry Point! 💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

One of those magical Highland moments ✨

Today on our private tour, we stopped at Chanonry Point on the Moray Firth — one of the best places in Scotland to see bottlenose dolphins from the shore — and they came to say hello! 🐬🌊

There’s something incredibly special about standing on the edge of the firth and watching these beautiful animals swimming and playing in the wild.
