We have another big rig wrecker here!

TIL 8748 is a Kenworth W900. It's been some time in progress with a lot of false turns along the way. But she's now finished and joins our Peterbilt. :)

The truck is a mongrel of various different parts put together. Corgi Kenworth cab, Mark Hughes white metal wheels and an Oxford Diecase Boniface recovery body. Unlike the Peterbilt though the W900 has a custom built chassis so it's slightly shorter than the first truck here.

It's unlikely there'll be lots more of these, this one has frustrated along the way more than once! :D

A new arrival to the fleet is HUI 6824, a somewhat large and imposing Peterbilt 379 underlift recovery truck.

It's a merger of a Kentoys 1/72 truck, with extended chassis mated to an Oxford Diecast Boniface recovery body.

A further truck is in progress but is proving to be somewhat painful in the re**al area of our lady and mistress. It should hopefully be complete soonish. Seeing as she is now grounded thanks to the malfunctioning (t)rusty van deciding it wants another holiday.

Thanks must be extended to Pontefract Print and Design for an exceptionally swift turnaround of the transfers which have been applied to the model finishing it off today! :)

Whilst my fleet was being shown off at Chester Model Showbus, the opportunity was also taken to visit our friends at Ocean Travel and a few photos were taken on Gerald's layout!
All are big coaches. 🙂

Our final journeys on Countrywide Service 400 (Burnham on Sea, Weston super Mare, Bristol and London) will operate on Saturday 3rd October.
Owing to changes within Southwestbus around our membership of various organisations we leave the network from this date.
We have concluded a deal with Crossways of Gloucestershire for them to take on our workings on the service along with the four 2026 Irizar triaxle coaches used for this work.
Initially the current timetable will operate but it will be revised in the immediate future.
We have much enjoyed our 8.5 years operating the busiest express coach service in the country and are immensely proud of our achievements in that time.

Following on from our other new fleet member, our vehicle decapitation team were also working on a step entrance Dennis Dart during the summer. The alleged reason was to provide a 'modern' single deck vehicle to back up some of our older buses.
A suitably valueless Dart has thus been converted and has become N333 SWB.
Definetely one for nice weather days...

Today's the last day of the 2026 season for the Exmoor Explorer buses. We've had a lot of fun doing the route this summer and lots of happy customers have travelled with us.

We've been encouraged by the numbers so we'll be back for 2027 with one or two new to us buses. They are currently being worked on.

Today's allocation is seen here just prior to run out.
The closed top RM is a spare vehicle (there for late running, overloads or a technical problem with bus on either service!)

Southwestbus' vehicle decapitation section have produced this utterly pointless monstrosity.

OUI 4651 is a Plaxton Beaver bodied Mercedes 709D minibus which was a very common weapon of choice for operators in the 1990s and 2000s.

Dare I say it, they should still be given their highly economic running costs and nigh on mechanical indestructability.
My ideal fleet of buses consists of these, plus Bristol VRTs. :D

When asked 'why' the company spokesoperative was rendered pretty mute as no one can explain why this bus has been converted or for what reason. Someone suggested boredom, others asked what sort of stuff is being smoked on the premises.

Still, looks nice though.
