🚢✨ Two weeks to go!

I’ve just booked my first shore excursion on Legend of the Seas and, despite promising myself I’d spend every possible minute “researching” the ship for my clients, Portofino had other ideas. 🇮🇹

Let’s be honest, if you’re sailing along the Italian Riviera and don’t get off to explore Portofino, are you even doing Italy properly?

So while I’ll be busy checking out the restaurants, entertainment, cabins, and all the exciting new features onboard, I’ve also carved out some time for a little “client research” involving wandering through charming Italian streets, soaking up the coastal scenery, enjoying authentic cafés, and capturing plenty of content along the way.

One of the things I love most about my job is experiencing destinations firsthand. It means when you’re planning your own trip, I can tell you what it’s really like, not just what tik tok says!

Whether you’re dreaming of a Mediterranean cruise, a European getaway, or simply love following along with travel inspiration, I’ll be sharing lots from both the ship and ashore.

⛳A Birthday Golf Trip to Remember in Morocco 🇲🇦

When a client came to me looking for a special way to celebrate his son’s birthday, we created a trip that combined so much more than just golf.

From playing stunning championship courses surrounded by palm trees and mountain views, to exploring the bustling streets and souks of Marrakech, every day brought a new adventure.

The highlight? Heading out into the desert for an unforgettable off road experience, taking in the incredible landscapes that Morocco is famous for.

And of course, no birthday celebration would be complete without a surprise. Working with our local partners, we arranged a bespoke golf themed birthday cake waiting for them, complete with its very own golf course! ⛳🎂

These are the moments I love helping to create. Experiences that go beyond the ordinary and become lifelong memories.

What started as a golf holiday became so much more. They built such a great relationship with their caddie, driver and guides that they all went out for dinner together. When it was time to leave, the local team even bought them a gift to remember the trip by.

“He had a good 18th he will always remember, and that’s what it was all about.”

Where Are My Clients? ✈️

One of my favourite things is receiving your holiday photos and hearing all about your adventures. Here’s where some of my lovely clients have been making memories:

A wonderful family holiday at Club Marvy, enjoying quality time together in the sunshine.

The UK in June: 🌧️ ☔️

I’m convinced seawater contains some kind of magical ingredient they don’t tell us about.

Five minutes standing in the sea and suddenly:
Stress levels drop
Mood improves
Life feels manageable again

It’s basically nature’s version of a factory reset. 🌊

As a travel agent, I genuinely believe travel is so much more than ticking destinations off a list. Sometimes they’re simply about recharging your batteries, clearing your head and topping up those all important mental vitamins. ☀️

Although let’s be honest… after approximately 17 minutes back in the UK, mine are already running low again.

Now if someone could arrange for that feeling again by lunchtime, that would be great. 😂

Let’s talk sunbeds… ☀️😂

After a few days in Fuerteventura visiting hotels, I’ve realised something pretty important…

Sunbeds matter.

Not just “is there one available?” matter.

I’m talking:

✔️ Cushion thickness
✔️ Shade availability
✔️ Nap potential
✔️ Ease of getting back up afterwards 🤣

The older I get, the more I appreciate that a quality sunbed can make or break a holiday!

The sunbeds at Iberostar Selection Fuerteventura Palace genuinely impressed me. Properly cushioned, spacious, Balinese beds overlooking the ocean, and the kind of setup that makes you immediately start calculating how long you can reasonably stay there before anyone judges you. 🤣

And then there was this little gem at Waves Gaviotas Park… children’s sunbeds! 🩷

Honestly, they might be the cutest thing I’ve ever seen at a hotel. Although if they made an adult version in that pink stripe, I’d be first in the queue. 😂

So let’s settle this…

Somehow the trip is over already! ☀️🌊

Yesterday we ventured across the road to visit the other Iberostar hotels, and it was really interesting to see how each one has its own unique personality and atmosphere. It's amazing how different hotels can feel, even when they're practically neighbours.

We then jumped in a taxi to Morro Jable and spent some time exploring the town and wandering along what can only be described as breathtaking beaches. Every turn seemed to reveal another stretch of golden sand and turquoise water that looked like it belonged on a postcard - genuinely giving Caribbean!

Back at the hotel, we enjoyed Teppanyaki for dinner, another of the à la carte dining options, which was a great way to round off our stay. And, in the interests of thorough travel agent research, we felt it was only right to finish with a few cocktails before heading to the airport this lunchtime. 🍹😎

I have to admit, this trip has completely changed my opinion of the south of Fuerteventura. I'd always heard, "It's windy!" and yes, it is... but honestly? After a few days in the sunshine, the breeze feels less like a weather condition and more like complimentary air conditioning.

The hotel has been a real surprise too. Stylish, relaxed, and effortlessly chilled, it's the kind of place where you arrive planning to stay a few days and leave wondering if anyone would notice if you just... didn't go home.

So here I am, slightly sun kissed, carrying a phone full of beach photos, and feeling genuinely sad to leave.

Fuerteventura, you've won me over. Now excuse me while I try to convince the airline that extending my stay counts as professional development. ✈️

People often ask what travel agents do on these trips. The answer is simple: we work hard to make sure your holiday is perfect… and occasionally test the cocktail menu and have a little fun too.

The morning started with a presentation from James, giving us valuable insights into Iberostar and helping us better understand what makes the brand such a powerful option for our clients.

We then completed a full hotel inspection, taking in all the facilities and getting a real feel for the guest experience. After that, we enjoyed lunch at the hotel's à la carte restaurant before heading off for a walk along the beautiful beach and into Jandía.

The day wrapped up with some friendly competition followed by cocktails and plenty of laughs. 🍹🎳

These educational trips are so important because they allow us to experience everything firsthand. From the hotels and restaurants to the local area and atmosphere, it all helps us give our clients genuine recommendations based on personal experience.

Fuerteventura, you’re making it very hard to leave. ☀️

Travel agent research notes: Day 1 of my trip and I’ve already made some important discoveries:

Accommodation: Excellent ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The hanging chairs are harder to leave than expected!

Location: Stunning ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ just wow!

Views: Unreal ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The sea is ridiculously blue

Cocktails: 10/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Likelihood of me wanting to extend my stay: Concerningly high.

Absolutely loving the vibe at Iberostar Selection Fuerteventura Palace. The vibe is chilled and calm and very beautiful. If anyone needs me, I’ll be continuing my very thorough cocktail based research. 🍹😅🌴 obviously some work based research thrown in as well!
