25 years ago today. 🕊️

September 11th 2001 is one of those days that almost everyone remembers exactly where they were and what they were doing.

I hadn’t been cabin crew for very long, and like so many people working in travel, my world changed that day. Flying, security and the way we travelled would never quite be the same again.

At the time, New York had been my ultimate bucket-list destination. I had dreamed of visiting since I was a child. And although what happened that day was horrific, it didn’t take away my desire to see the city.

Less than six months later, I finally made my first trip to New York.

I remember seeing a city still very much in shock and mourning, with the beams of light shining into the night sky where the Twin Towers had stood. It was incredibly moving, and something I will never forget.

I’ve been lucky enough to return to New York many times since. What has always stayed with me is not just the tragedy, but the incredible way the city rebuilt, remembered and honoured those who were lost.

New York is still, without a doubt, my favourite city. ❤️🇺🇸

And I can’t wait to take my family back again and see that incredible city through their eyes.

25 years on, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed and the incredible bravery shown that day.
