A little bit later than expected due to an emergency visit to the vets yesterday and needing to remake a cake last night 🙈but here is the end result….and a dog that has had to be made to be sick and have liquid charcoal due to him being a greedy thief 🤬

Following on from yesterday’s post about Finolhu, I wanted to share the second part of our Maldives adventure.

For our second week we went back to one of my absolute favourite islands: LUX* South Ari Atoll.

This is where we had our honeymoon, and every time we return it feels a little bit like coming home. Over the years we have built real friendships with the team here, and the way we are welcomed, remembered and looked after is incredibly special. The service is warm and genuine, which makes such a difference, especially now we travel as a family.

LUX* South Ari Atoll is a beautiful, laid‑back island with long stretches of powder‑soft sand, a huge turquoise lagoon and a choice of stylish beach and overwater villas. There are multiple restaurants and bars to choose from, plus a wonderful spa and plenty of activities on and under the water, so you can do as little or as much as you like.

For us, it is that mix of relaxed luxury, amazing food and truly personalised service that keeps drawing us back. It is a place filled with memories, and every visit adds new ones.

This summer we escaped to Finolhu, a luxury island in the Baa Atoll, and it was exactly what we needed as a family.

Think long stretches of powdery white sand, that unbelievable Maldivian blue, and villas right on the beach or over the water where you can step straight into the lagoon.

Days were spent barefoot, swimming, snorkelling and exploring, with Hannah loving the Oceaneers’ Club while we enjoyed a little grown‑up time.

What I really loved was the mix of relaxed fun and stylish touches: lunches at the Crab Shack on the sand, sunset drinks at the Beach Club, and the feeling that there was always space to breathe and just be together.

If you like the idea of a luxury “island playground” where families are genuinely welcomed and there is always something to do on, above or below the water, Finolhu is a fantastic option.

What a summer it has been.

Today my daughter starts secondary school and it feels like the perfect moment to look back on some incredible family memories we made over the holidays.
