A follow up from our stay on the Island last week.

Thursday was a bit drizzley and grey so we set off to visit Farringford House and gardens.

You need to book on a tour of the house, we did it easily online but garden only access is walk in (paid entry £4.50).

The house tour is fascinating. I knew very little about Lord Tennyson other than he was a poet, but the tour brought him and his family to life.

Well worth a visit on a wet day. When we came out of the house the sun was shining and we had a walk round the gardens.

Dancing Seagulls Lodge, Shanklin

Stop 2 on our South Wight exploration.

We stopped off in the car park at the foot of St Catherine's Down and took the footpath up to St Catherine's Oratory. A fairly short but steep path up to the summit and the Oratory.

A fascinating history of the Oratory and of course splendid views of the South Wight coast.

VERY windy up there so the photos are literally snapshots while I tried to hold the camera still!

Well worth the climb, then a fairly quick descent back to the car park and a well deserved ice cream 🍦.

Good morning from Dancing Seagulls Lodge. We are taking a break in our beloved lodge while we can.

A bit of a soggy start today but it should be sunny later.

We enjoyed yesterday's sunshine and explored the south of the island. So much natural beauty to be seen. We only covered a part of it.

Stop 1 was Mottistone Manor displaying all of it's summer beauty. The flower beds are stunning and, as always, the views magnificent.
