✈️✈️11 September 2001. 25 years ago today✈️✈️

I wasn’t in the air that day. I was in Cape Town, on a five-day layover, working as cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic.

From thousands of miles away, I watched the events unfold, initially struggling to comprehend what was happening. Like so many people, I remember the disbelief, the sadness and the sheer enormity of it all.

Although I wasn’t directly affected that day, I was part of an industry that would be changed forever.

I remember coming home and crying. Not just for the terrible loss of life, but for the realisation that the world I had known had changed in a few hours.

Twenty-five years later, I still think about that feeling.

Today, I remember the thousands of innocent people who lost their lives, those who lost loved ones, and the many brave people who ran towards danger to help others.

And I remember it from the perspective of someone who loved working in aviation and saw, first-hand, how profoundly that day changed it.

Some days stay with you forever. This is one of them.
