Oxton Hill Hideaway shepherds huts, Nottinghamshire

We have some big news for you all that after 30 happy years on the farm The Green family are moving to pastures new. We are retiring from farming and downsizing so as part of this, the huts are going to new homes down south.

We have loved having you all stay on our farm for the last 8 years and thank you for all your lovely messages following your visits. It will be such a big wrench for us but we are excited for the future at our new home nearby.

Gorgeous walk with our dogs this morning up out of Oxton to the top of the Saxon burial mounts. Lots of sheep and lambs in the fields which are so joyous to see.

It’s now well into lambing season so just a reminder to keep your dogs on a lead when sheep are about. 🐕‍🦺

Did you know that on the farm we have some relatives of the world famous 1000 year old Nottinghamshire Major Oak - the very tree where Robin Hood and his Merry Men hid! 🌳 🏹

Given to us many years ago as tiny saplings, our oak trees are growing well. Let’s hope they also last a 1000 years 😊

Visit the original tree at nearby Sherwood Forest. 🪾🌳

On a walk around the farm along the grass paths around the fields you’ll see our horse Daisy who currently is in the field by Paddock View hut. Also there are the ponies: Teddy and Tigger who have smaller paddocks so they don’t eat too much grass.

Rufford Abbey is such a lovely place to visit when staying at our huts. About 20 minutes away by car, it has a huge lake, woodland walks and lovely cafes. Well worth a visit.
