Lake District Day 3
Showers today and high winds at times but it didn’t dampen our spirits.
Our walk today was at Kirkstone Pass where the highest Inn in the Lake District is.
Parked at the carpark beside the Inn and scrambled/walked up Kilnshaw Chimney to Red Screes and TP at 776m then over Middle Dodd and back via Kirkstone Beck.
Lovely scenery especially when the sun was shining. Very windy at times. Once on summit lovely grassy paths.
Couldn’t resist a beer in the pub before heading back to accommodation.
Only 6km, 4 miles and 680m ascent.

Group 2 starting in Glenridding and following the Ullswater Way to Howtown and back by boat. Tested out our new Merlin App and delighted to hear such a variety of small birds.

Lake District Day 2 - we split into 3 groups today and made the most of another sunny day.

Group 1 headed back up to Helvellyn, but this scrambling time up the Swirral - nae bad for 3 ladies in their 60’s!
Then we walked along a very scenic ridge to Dollywagon Pike, dropped down to Grisdale Beck, back up over to Glenridding, a pint in the pub before walking back to the hostel.

11.5 miles, 3,200 feet ascent.

Reminder that Calum Richardson will describe his epic climb of Manaslu in the Nepalese Himalayas on Tuesday 31st, at No 44 Hotel and Bar Stonehaven.

At 8163m (26,781ft) this is the 8th highest mountain in the world. We would advise turning up early to grab a seat and a drink. Non members most welcome.

Selection of photos from the Club March Weekend at the bunkhouse at Crianlarich. Some testing windy conditions meant that only one Munro (Ben More) and one Graham / Fiona was achieved between the 12 of us, and 3 of us even took to the West Highland Way for a change.

As ever though, a great weekend was had by all, and Winter Skills re-acquaintance was enjoyed by those who got above the snow lines.
