I couldn't help but smile at this contrast—a medieval, 14th-century doorway complete with a very 21st-century Amazon delivery.

Dropped my guests at beautiful Hidcote Manor Garden this morning and managed to capture a few photos between the showers.

Everything is looking wonderfully lush and green at the moment, and over the next few weeks the gardens will really begin to burst into summer colour.

One of the true highlights of the Cotswolds in late spring and summer

A beautiful day touring from the South Cotswolds to the North.

We began in Castle Combe, one of England’s prettiest villages, then continued to historic Malmesbury, with its remarkable abbey and ruins full of character.

From there we travelled on to Burford, with its lovely high street and warm honey-coloured stone, before finishing in Bloxham, where the church and village made a perfect end to the day.

One of the pleasures of a private tour is seeing how each stop has its own distinct feel, while all are connected by the beauty of the English countryside.

From the southern edge of the Cotswolds to the north, last week's tour was full of beautiful contrasts.

We began in Castle Combe, with its picture-perfect stone cottages and timeless village charm, before heading to Malmesbury, where history seems to rise out of every stone.

From there we travelled on to Burford, Gateway to the Cotswolds, with its wonderful hill, honey-coloured buildings and centuries of stories.

We finished in Bloxham, where the church and village streets made a fitting end to a day of old England, warm spring sunshine and peaceful country scenes.

One of the joys of a private tour is seeing how each place has its own character, while all being tied together by the beauty of the English countryside.
