A week on from the Heathrow closure, I wanted to share some examples of situations why booking with a travel expert like myself and this is something you should carefully consider before you plan your next trip.

Client 1 thought he was saving money by booking flights and hotels separately online. He got stranded in New York, his return flight was cancelled, his hotel was full, and last-minute accommodation was scarce and overpriced. He spent the day scrambling for a new place to stay while battling with the airline to rebook at an eye watering cost.

Client 2 also booked everything himself - his flights and a dream cruise, all separately. His Heathrow flight was cancelled, but the cruise? Still sailed from Miami without him. With no financial protection, he lost his once in a lifetime holiday, and the money he spent - gone!

Client 3 booked through a travel agent. His trip was fully ATOL protected, and with just one phone call, everything was rebooked. No stress, no endless phone calls, no unexpected costs just sorted in the background to allow the client to carry on enjoying his trip.

Clients 1 and 2 now realise that their so called “savings” weren’t worth the chaos, stress, and financial loss.

And they are finally off 🤩✈️ yesterday morning at 6am my lovely clients had just started their journey down to Heathrow when we found out the airport was closed and we had to give them the bad news to turn around go home and they would not be travelling 😭 they then became my number 1 priority and I got straight on the case to get them booked on the next possible flight (which thankfully has just taken off 😅)

It is at times like this that you really do need a travel professional in your corner that is going to prioritise your booking and you won’t just be a number stuck in a call centre queue.
