Behind the scenes.

Everyone thinks being a travel agent is easy. All happy making bookings and free trips. The bit they donโ€™t see is the bits like last night. Snuggled up with the dogs on the couch, just about to go to bed, suddenly an email drops and everything changes! A flight cancellation in the morning. My client was supposed to fly at 6am. But nope not happening. So I hot foot it to my desk, making a strong coffee en route, and 3 hours later I finally have them rebooked on a new flight later on the day and can go and crawl into bed. 1am bed time.

The question is, who is looking after your holiday and making sure when the worst happens, things are fixed and you can still travel?

If it isnโ€™t a professional who cares, then what happens?

Its award-winning architecture is also something very special indeed, evoking as it does the atmosphere of a southern Thai village.

Accommodation is in unique two-storey circular pavilions and villas scattered throughout the coconut groves, some with private pools. The biggest have three bedrooms, making Rayavadee a great choice for multigenerational holidays or other gatherings with family or friends. Villas come with personal butler service; some are right on the beach.

Thereโ€™s plenty to explore nearby: reefs rich in colourful marine life, Poda, Chicken, Tub and Hong islands with their lovely beaches and strange rock formations, and iconic Phi Phi Island just a 35-minute speedboat ride away. Krabi Town's morning market is well worth a stroll, and there are brilliant activities including kayaking along the green waterways of Ta Laneโ€™s mangrove forests.

I've been asked this question a lot recently, so in the interests of transparency I thought I would share a little insight into my business.

As a self employed travel agent, I rely solely on commission paid to me by suppliers.
I only get paid my commission (which I then pay a proportion of to Travel Counsellors, along with monthly fees, insurance etc), if travel actually happens.
All the time spent researching your trips, putting quotes together, I donโ€™t get paid for.

In 2026, like in 2020, Iโ€™ve spent time creating holidays that have then had to be cancelled, and full refunds given.
Thatโ€™s the climate we are working in and more importantly it is the law, thatโ€™s fine, but unlike your local High Street agent who gets paid a salary irrespective of whether travel happens, I donโ€™t.

Also I donโ€™t set the price of holidays, or have the ability to magic up prices lower than the internet where you are self serving.
Iโ€™m providing a financially bonded, personal service that I am proud of after many years doing it, and my level of repeat clients demonstrates that they are happy with it too.
Please consider that when asking for quotes. I donโ€™t charge a research fee.

Youโ€™re dealing with a real person with years (decades in fact) of experience who really cares that you have the best holiday.
By supporting my business now, means that I will be here in the future too, you know, when you want to โ€œpick my brainsโ€, when the internet and AI cannot provide you what you need, and you want the reassurance of a real person โ€ฆ
