Today we remember Colin Grazier who died on this day, 84 years ago, in 1942.

He was a brave and amazing local Tamworth man who was awarded the George Cross for “outstanding bravery and steadfast devotion to duty in the face of danger”.

Colin served on board HMS Petard when he lost his life helping to retrieve vital German codebooks from a sinking U-boat. The documents they seized enabled Bletchley Park’s code breakers to crack the Enigma codes and so win the Battle of the Atlantic.

These photographs are taken in St Editha's Square of the Memorial Statue.

🍺 TAMWORTH – FRIDAY EVENING PUB ADVENTURE! 🍺

📍 Tamworth, Staffordshire
📅 Friday 30th October 2026

This Friday evening, Micropub Adventures is heading back to Tamworth for a wander around some of the town’s fantastic pubs and micropubs! 🍻

I’ve got seven stops planned, mixing traditional pubs with some lovely independent places, including a return to the award-winning Tamworth Tap.

🍺 Here’s my planned route:

🍻 The Sir Robert Peel / Public House
🍻 The King's Ditch - Tamworth
🍻 Market Vaults
🍻 The Old Bank House Tamworth
🍻 The Tamworth Tap at Tamworth Brewing Co
🍻 Hop House Tamworth
🍻 Moat House - Tamworth's Stately Home

I’ll be taking plenty of photos, catching up with a few familiar places and hopefully discovering a few new favourites along the way!

If you’re out and about in Tamworth on Friday evening, come and say hello! Always lovely to meet fellow pub enthusiasts and supporters of independent pubs. 🍺
