Today was a BIG day at Cove Valley.
We released our first ever white storks and turtle doves into the wild. 🕊️🕊️

After months of quiet preparation, care, and watching the skies… this morning, the pens opened. Wings lifted. And the sky came alive. ✨

These birds aren’t just beautiful-they’re part of something much bigger.
🌍 The turtle doves are part of a nationwide effort to restore their fragile numbers in the wild. Once a common summer sound, their gentle purring is now rare in Britain-but we’re helping to bring it back.

🌍 The white storks are even more ambitious. As part of a national breeding programme, they’ll form a colony that migrates and-if all goes well-returns to breed right here, bringing a once-lost species back to our skies.

These releases mark a powerful moment in Cove Valley’s journey: a return to balance, a reconnection with ancient rhythms, and a reminder that when we give nature space, she remembers what to do.

To see them soar felt like witnessing hope itself take flight.

💫 Guests staying with us over the next few months may be lucky enough to see them around the valley—feeding, flying, and settling in—before they begin their migration to Africa later this summer.
