A massive well done to Lewis for passing his Paddle UK Seakayak leader assessment yesterday. He is now ready to go out and take up to 6ppl on amazing journeys. The weather conditions turned out perfect and we had amazing group to go with it.

The Lizard is one of my favourite paddling locations! I had to pleasure to take this great bunch of guys on a 3 day camping trip. Cooking on the fire, ice cream and cream tea stops on a regular basis 😁☀️🦭

Yesterday we did a thing I wanted to do for a long time: Paddle 100km in a Seakayaking in one day. To make it easy we planned a trip down the River Severn to Clevedon, as strong flows would help us along. We started at 5:30 in the morning from Tewkesbury, paddled 15km in the river to get to Maisemore weir before high tide. We wanted to make use of the full 6hrs of strong outgoing flow to help us along. It was a great wild adventure paddling over the and having to wait for over an hour before the flow turned downriver again. The strong tidal flow pushed us along nicely and we reached up to 20km/h on very short fast sections. The chocolate milk coloured water was boiling and raging in sections around Sharpness and kept us on our toes with strong currents going round the mudbanks. It definitely tested our white water kayak skills. We paddled underneath the impressive Severn bridge and Prince of Wales bridge at kilometer 85 and headed for Portishead when the tide turned against us. Already tired after over 12 hrs into the trip we paddled as hard as we could but couldn’t make any headway into the strong in coming tide and had to ferry glide to Portbury dock for our last stop at km 95. We had ot use our emergency plan and paddle up the river Avon for the remaining distance and the incoming flow gave us a very welcome push to our get out and finish of our 100km paddle. After the shuttle I tried to drive back to Teignmouth but my eyes were closing and I ended up sleeping in my van at Gordano services. Thanks to and James Sims for being excellent adventure buddies and up for this challenge!
