A little island with rather a lot to see. 🌊
From dramatic coastal landmarks and historic castles to thatched villages and Victorian seaside towns, the Isle of Wight has a wonderful way of making you feel as though you’ve travelled much further than a short ferry crossing.
Here are 5 places on the Isle of Wight we think everyone should visit at least once. 🤍
🌸 Shanklin Old Village – A picture-perfect collection of thatched cottages, winding lanes, traditional tearooms and pretty gardens. One of the loveliest spots on the island for a leisurely wander.
🌊 The Needles – Perhaps the Isle of Wight’s most iconic landmark. These dramatic chalk stacks rise from the sea at the island’s western tip, with spectacular views from the surrounding cliffs and the famous Needles Lighthouse.
🌿 Ventnor – A charming Victorian seaside town tucked beneath the cliffs on the island’s south coast. Think colourful houses, independent shops, a beautiful beach and a wonderfully sheltered, almost Mediterranean feel.
🏰 Carisbrooke Castle – Over 800 years of history within these medieval walls. Famous for its connection to Charles I, who was imprisoned here, the castle offers fascinating history, resident donkeys and beautiful views across the island.
🗼 The Pepperpot - Standing high above the village of Niton, St Catherine’s Oratory is a wonderfully unusual medieval lighthouse dating back to the 14th century. One of the island’s most atmospheric historic landmarks, with sweeping countryside and coastal views.
