Think of it as Google Maps built specifically for Japan. It tells you station exits, platform numbers, transfer times, walking distances, and even when the last train leaves. It’s a lifesaver for navigating Japan’s rail system.
4. Tabelog
This is where Japanese locals actually look for restaurants. Forget tourist traps. On Tabelog, a 3.5-star rating is already excellent, making it one of the best ways to discover amazing ramen, sushi, and hidden neighborhood gems.
5. GO Taxi
Missed the last train? Stuck in the rain? GO is Japan’s leading taxi app with an English interface, cashless payment, and live ride tracking.
6. Google Translate (Camera Mode)
Point your camera at menus, train signs, medicine labels, supermarket products, or notices and watch them translate instantly. It even works surprisingly well with handwritten signs.
