🌊💛 A New Way to Apply for Funded Beach Hut Days and caravan short breaks💛🌊
Over the years, many families have messaged me privately asking for help. When I put out a post for a free day, hundreds of people apply.
And I’ve always done my best to respond with care, compassion and fairness.
But as my CIC grows, and as more families reach out, I knew we needed something clearer, more transparent — and more consistent.
So from now on, all funded beach hut days and caravan breaks will be allocated through our new application form.
Why?
Because funded days aren’t first-come-first-served.
They aren’t based on who shouts loudest.
And they aren’t decided by social media.
They are carefully assessed by the CIC directors, based on:
✔ Level of need
✔ Individual circumstances
✔ Available funding criteria
✔ Ring-fenced grants (e.g. disability, cancer, veterans etc.)
Most importantly — dignity always comes first.
Sometimes people ask why we don’t share more photos or emotional stories of the families we help.
The truth is simple:
The people we support are not content.
They are people.
Many are living through illness, grief, disability, caring responsibilities or trauma. Even when consent is offered, we think carefully about power imbalance, privacy and long-term impact.
We will always choose respect over reach.
Always.
The goal isn’t likes.
It’s making sure families feel valued, safe and supported.
If you, or someone you support professionally, would like to apply for a funded:
🏖 Mabel Hut beach hut day
🏖 Erin Hut beach hut day
🏡 Harry Caravan short break
You can now complete our structured application form.
This helps us allocate funding fairly — and contact families if further funding becomes available later in the year.
Fair. Thoughtful. Dignified.
As always — thank you for supporting me and The Hut Mersea Island CIC. You make this possible.
